I still have PTSD symptoms from fire and necro-fire in DOS2.

I understand the earth is not flat, but EVERY encounter just seems to be a fight for higher ground.

It would be a nice game element... in moderation.

Advantage from high ground is simply way to good. I like the map and the verticality in general, but the bonus should IMO be removed or greatly reduced.

Verticality is cool and good and adds some much-needed tactical considerations to the mostly bland ruleset.

I think one advantage(pun intended) that a video game has over trying to simplify gaming in a tabletop game is that they can add modifiers without it bogging down the game. A simple +2 or something bonus for high ground would go a long way to fixing this issue.

Honestly of all the complaints I have about balance in this game this isn't one of them. Fighting to keep your ranged units on high ground and enemy units off of it at least encourages some level of tactics and tradeoffs. Having advantage on combat rolls hasn't mattered to me at all in my playthrough because I barely make attack rolls in high-stakes fights anyway.

At the very least I'd like to see how it is without all the other overpowered tools available to players and with properly balanced enemy forces before coming to a decision.

Every battle becomes a scramble for the high ground. It's a bit much. Maybe one or two battles on a flat land?

Definitely need to nerf advantage on high ground, its way too strong currently.

That or implement the "cover" rules

This is a really good idea!
