I'm not sure what did I do wrong this time.
In my first playthrough, I could recruit Wyll in the Grove.

I finished my first playthrough, started another with a different character. (First one was Human Fighter, second one is Tiefling Warlock)
Got to druid's grove, finished talking to Zevlor, Kagha, etc. But Wyll is just standing at the gate instead of training the kids.
So, I can't recruit him.

Did I miss something?

I don't know, but he died in the battle at the front gate in my game.. no Wyll..

Same just happened on my most recent play-through. Keeps saying
"Now, now. You'll have plenty of time to thank me later." but no option to recruit him

Same thing happened to me. A reddit post I found said this occurs when you save while Wyll is moving from the battle to his spot near the kids.

I reloaded to before the battle and didn't save during or immediately after it, which seems to have fixed the problem! Wyll was near the kids and recruitable.

I didn't even know about him, think he died for me!
