I know it's not the 5e ruleset, but I think full Drow characters should have Scimitar proficiency instead of Rapier Proficiency as part as their drow training feat.

In the lore, the Drow training (at least in Mezzoberanzan) use scimitars, and books dont suggest it being only limited to Drizzt Do'Urden and his father ; most Drow warriors are using scimitars (maybe spears too ?), and those weapons are like "trademark" of drow culture (see ingame the scimitar's fluff text), much like hand crossbows + sleep darts are as well.

I think giving scimitar proficiency instead or rapier to (pure) drows will allow more uniqueness and variety to builds, since classes like rogue already got rapier proficiency (wich is more generic).

That all makes some good sense. If swashbuckler rogues end up a thing in final release, it's always seemed weird to me that they don't get scimitar proficiency in 5E, either. Like... They're the pirate archetype, and they can't use curved, dexterity-based swords?
