How about Elminster Aumar?
Will he has any involvement in the story?

It’s a FR story, so I wouldn’t be surprised if both he and Drizzt made at least cameos, though I could certainly do without either.

He's already mentioned in a few of Volo's literature. I believe V sends E a letter saying he's found something interesting about the goblins.

Volo is shameless in his name dropping though, but I'd love to see a few famous faces.

Given Gale's backstory it would be criminal if they DIDN'T have Elminister show up

I bet $20 he will be in Baldur's Gate 3. Elminster's most recent appearance in Forgotten Realms lore was in the novel "Death Masks", which takes place 3 years before Baldur's Gate Descent into Avernus. In the novel he helped Laeral Silverhand, who is the Open Lord of Waterdeep, uncover the people responsible for attempting to murder all the Masked Lords.

I hope not. Never liked Elminster. He is broken OP, and a poor imitation of a D&D Gandalf.

I think he's basically Ed Greenwood's Mary Sue character. To me, that's fine as long as it's a cameo but annoying when he's too big of an influence on a story.

No he isn't, Elminister is nothing like Gandalf except in the most superficial ways, personality wise very, very different. For one thing Elmister gets laid more, like a lot more. Hot chicks too. Sometimes Elmister IS the hot chick, I think Elminister is border line trans or something. Gandalf no so much.

I found a note addressed to Elminster written by a researcher person talking up a book he was writing.

Having already included Volo, he might show up to take this burden of your hands, sure.

Never really been a fan of Elminster or Drizzt, so hope we don't see them

Love them both . They might be dead in that timeline . Drizzt was famous for his twin swords. Saw him in old ssi game menzoberzaban . He was kidnapped leaving his two swordsbehind . Elminstrr isnt he based of gandalf ? So you hate gandalf too then smile
