In a tabletop RPG most parties interact together as a group in social encounters, unless the party is split.

In multiplayer we are given the option to suggest what the person who initiated the conversation will say, which is cool, but also a bit "half way there"
At the tabletop if the uncharismatic barbarian triggers a conversation encounter, the Bard would probably step in and talk down the situation. You solve the conversations as a team.

I would love to see something similar in BG3. Where you have your choice of options, and if another character is better at a skill check then they could show up as an "[Wyll Persuasion]" style choice.
Not all scenarios makes it "logical" but many scenarios makes it illogical that your party just stands there and watches.
