This feels like a place where a change from 5e RAW should be made.

In the TTRPG, Dancing Lights is a cantrip with a a high potential for shenanigan and tactical use. But in this game it's just a big light source and drow have Superior Darkvision. Minor Illusion might fit better for the limits of the games mechanics.

Edit: Wrong Forum, meant to put this in suggestions. Re-posting it there, go ahead and ignore this.

Does superior darkvision mitigate miss chance due to concealment in dark areas?

My Elf ranger was still being concealed with normal darkvision and needed dancing lights for full hit chance.

It reduces Darkness to Dim Light....so there may still be some miss-chance going on, actually, hmm...Superior is just 120' instead of 60'

If theres still a hit penalty in dark areas then dancing lights is still very useful to have as it clears darkness based concealment. And it clears it for the rest of your group too. You should make sure to have either or even both of the light cantrips available when exploring dark areas like the underdark and spider well.
