Just for the record, on Steam Database it shows that Larian updated "Patch2" three hours ago.
Maybe we'll have a public release by the end of the day if they are happy about it.

People, it's not exactly an intimate secret for few privileged ones... SteamDB is a VERY popular and publicly accessible site that anyone can browse at any given moment: https://steamdb.info/app/1086940/depots/

Not to mention this was already posted in the previous page, if I remember right.

Ok, I don't know how much you know about software/game development, but it is only one right answer to this: when it's ready
I don't want to be rude or something like that - but it's the only right answer to that question.

You could be right - but that's just a pure guess.
People expect new content, frequent patches etc. and they forgot that this is EA, and we are just 1 month in.

I strongly believe that EA will be more than 1 year - the game is massive and everyone agreed that there is a lot of work to do.
During that time I expect 3-4 major iterations so it could be like a big update - so some huge improvement/change to the game every 4 months - but again this is a guess! We know nothing about plans at Larian.

About game development? 0. About software development? A lot, as I have 10+ years experience in it. I also know, that most development companies work with sprints and a sprint normally takes about 2 weeks. It was just a question, nothing more. And btw, "when it's ready" is a customer thing, and not how it works internally. You can't tell your PO or PM: "when it's ready" that simply does not exist.

This, most software houses, regardless of medium, will be working in an Agile methodology these days, typically in Agile they'll have looked at the issues that have come in and the features they need to develop, the features will be story pointed and depending on the standard team velocity, only so much can be achieved in a sprint, defects will also be taken into a sprint, possibly by a separate team with a separate sprint, I imagine Larian is large enough to have one team (or more) working on features and a distinct team for squashing bugs.

The things that go into a sprint are typically expected to be refined, developed and tested during the sprint, although different companies will have different deifnitions of done.

So yeah, things get sized, things get planned, things do slip, the outward message is "when its ready" but internally, that simply isn't how it works. Realistically if they're working to sprints, it's actually not unreasonable to expect a patch once a fortnight during the entirety of early access. Equally, it's not unreasonable for them to start pooling their sprints and working toward slightly larger releases made up of multiple sprints worth of work, releasing larger patches monthly or longer, or even to go the other way and for hotfix patches to come more frequently.

p.s. yeah, developer here too, also not games, but development is ultimately, development.

p.p.s. for everyone elses benefits, features are typically broken into stories, a story is a clearly defined piece of functionality that adds something to the end uesers experience, that story should be able to be developed and tested and merged into their development or main branch ready for release, however if there are multiple stories in a feature (not unusual) there's also a good chance that they'll feature flag functionality so even if it's released, it isn't available to end users till they want it to be.

Honestly I don't care how long I have to wait for more content or even full release, I have loved what I have played so far, and I look forward to more. I wanna do a few playthroughs after I finish my first with other classes to see what builds I can do and what changes as time moves forward. I definitely look forward to more content and definitely will be playing this off and on as content gets dropped. I'm in this for the long haul, however long it takes.

You are 100% right! But you are talking about internal knowledge smile

We just simply don't know how they planned to release fix / updates - it will be released, when its ready to be.
Maybe they gathering few things to release, maybe they will do small releases (like 3 hotfixes) - we just simply know nothing.
We can only guess but it will still be a guess.

My internal expected timeline is pretty much this
2 - 11 Months
Nothing but hotfixes and bug squashing.

12 Months
Second major content patch but still in early access
A Lots of the planned features implemented, maybe even a another act, but not all of the PHB content

1 Year, 5 Months
Next wave of PHB additions, still early access
~ Two more major content probably added at this point if we're lucky, maybe some tweaks to the last major release

Year 1, 6 Months
Final updated, end of 'early access'
~ Not all PHB content makes it in, Dragonborn doesn't make the cut because its too hard to model

But I like to keep my expectations low so I'm surprised when things are better than expected.

In that case

RIP to all bestial races including Warforged who are in here somehow despite being from another universe. Imgur link for additional clarity.

As much as I agree with the fact that this is an Early Access I don't think the producer can take too long without giving more content.

I get the need to fix errors and bugs and so on, but as other players stated the game is too short lived, I've bought it circa two weeks ago and I almost finished the main quest and have only the Nightsong and the Hag ones to complete
.
By the way I'm a lazy player that is I, even if a bit obsessive sometimes, played the game slowly, even restarted it with a new toon.

I'll buy Cyberpunk, but sue to the fact that I paid for the game. Even if it's an early acces, that is I'm not only paying but also giving a, quite small i dare to say smallest, help with feedbacks and discussions (that is Larian is gaining while doing a sort of massive low level beta testing, can we call it gamma testing? :P ), so I espect them to give me more content, maybe not the final and complete game, but something that maintain high my wanting.

if Larian lets the game like it is for a long period they risk to loos a lot of players, because if we make an exempion of hard core fans of the Baldur's Gate brand, a lot of players want the fun now, fast, and quick, and lack the willpower to patiently wait for almost a year or even more.

How can you be so sure of that? I'm really asking

I just have a theory, there is not enough content in the game even for early access, I think Larian needs some feedback on the moonrise towers to make sure they are on the right track.

If you do not complete the side quests, you can advance through the main quest in 1.5-2 hours in this version and earn level 3 (I passed for evil).
It was the 2nd playthrough, the first 20 hours

IMO, there's plenty of content for EA. I'm 150 hours in, played with almost every combo of race and class not represented by the companions. You can level any build to 3 nearly without trying in this release. Having played ~45 hours each of an evil build and a good build to do every single possible "good" or "bad" choice/plotline I spend the next 60 hours doing "RP" playthroughs where I used my knowledge of the different choices And plotlines from the "full" playthroughs to run each PC as a unique individual making choices in a live game world. It went great and even now, 150 hours in, I'm finding things I missed before.

There's WAY more content than a single person could really experience in EA currently. It's just presented in a way that requires you to make unique choices and role play your PC to experience it all.

I would say that before releasing new content, the next patches should release other classes and races for play testing. I would almost certainly do another 15-20 hours of play testing with each new race/class that was made available.

I'm sure that the Moonrise towers content will be unavailable in EA, because it will most likely include main plot spoilers. As for the changes I'm waiting for main "Larian homebrew" issues(food, action economy, surface) removal, otherwise do not see the meaning of further testing.

hopefully a long time the game needs a complete overhaul they would be wise to delay the game a year even till the next patch, so many broken systems in the game simply patching it makes no sense, patching wont save this game it needs a bottom to top reworking.
