My suggestion: lower the magical items count. More unique rarer items. Shops sell WAY too early TOO MANY magic items. Or increase the prices 20x (as in BG2, but that was in the CITY...not countryside) At LEVEL 4 my bag content looks exactly like a DOS2 bag. Junk non-magical, mostly useless greens, blue items to sell, and keep some of the reds.

Magic items should be rare and special. I'd say look at BG1 and work from there. BG1/2 had quite a lot of magic items anyway - any more than that is too much, especially at low levels.

I'd also suggest no rarity color-coding. Yes, rarity is a thing in 5e, but you can just include it in a footnote in the item's description. Rarity color-coding immediately brings to mind MMOs and looter games. Not something that has place in a cRPG, in my opinion.

Perhaps just a subtle bluish(?) glow to indicate the item is magical rather than mundane - and that would be enough.
