Former thread title: PRIORITY CONVERSATION CHANGES

The way conversations in game work as of now, is fundamentally broken and these feature are hopefully not final. The huge glaring issue, is that the game priorities the host's PC when thrust into certain story scene, and those scenes typically have some crucial skill checks (Charisma) that their PC may not be proficient in. This makes the party's "face" seem ineffective if not controled by the host, and ruins crucial plot points because a specialist at that skill can't attempt it. The whole structure can be fixed in two simple solutions.

• Take notes from Star Wars: The Old Republic and allow the party to vote on conversation choices in multiplayer, whom ever rolls the highest will have their character speak.

• Have the option to relinquish your vote to any party member present. Automatically allowing that character to speak if they have the most votes.

This isn't just something that I personally want this is something the game desperately NEEDS. So I would appreciate any help getting this to the devs in any way shape or form.

Can I ask that you alter your thread title to be in normal case, please. All caps is considered 'shouting' on a forum and is generally frowned upon.

As for the topic; yes, it has been discussed here at length and the general consensus seems to be that having the party 'Face' do all the talking by default or by an easy-to-use switch would be a good thing.

Afaik, it's already planned, just wasn't ready for EA launch. (Tbh I thought we'd get it by now, though we haven't had ANY actual content patches...)

Or if you want that true table top experience, just have them suddenly hijack the conversation and force their contribution on you to resolve the situation as you originally wanted, thereafter limiting all your dialogue options to either trying to shut them up or waiting for them to finish with docile compliance.

Wasn't exactly that, but companions hijacking conversations actually happened in BG2 (possibly BG1? can't remember). Goody-two-shoes tended to express immediate support for whatever poor shmuck was your troubled questgiver, not giving you the chance to extort him, for example.

Yeah, I actually like that sort of interaction where NPCs and companions assert themselves and champion their perspectives, rather than simply being submissive fuck dolls accommodating every whim of the player.

Agreed. Though ideally you'd be given an option to react somehow - even if it's after the fact. (Of course, that would be much more work for writers.)

Iirc (and didn't misunderstand Swen), companions interjecting (not just option to swap) is planned as part of the dialogue revamp.

I mean, why can't we have both?

What i would like is that conversations include everyone in the party. They are all there, standing right next to the speaker generally. Atm you can choose options for your class, race, skills so why not the other chars in the same way? That way you can make use of the whol party and not have three people standing around and ignoring
what is said.

An example:

As a Rogue you get the option for a passphrase to the Zhent hideout, even if you did not get it before. So during the talk with the guy i would like an option that looks like this: [Astarion][Rogue]: "passphrase". Same would go for every other char. That way i would have the feeling that the party talks as a party. Not just one with no possibility
to access the knowlwdge and skills of the people next to him.

changinf characters and giving everyone his own set of choices to continue the conversation would work too but seems a little awkward to me and takes the fluidity of the conversation.
