To me Shadowheart and Astarion both seem to be Cat Persons, Wyll definitly a dog - i have the feeling he needs the supportiveness of a dog. Lae'zel..a snake.
For Lae it will be only red dragon For Astarion if not snake, then bat. For Shadowheart maybe owl? For Gale tressym or normal cat. For Wyll a dog or hell hound.

Now will have to admit that I did have to do a search to find out what in the 9 hells a "tressym" was due to the fact I'd never heard of it. And will have to admit a flying cat looks not only cool but different as well.
