Hello there!

First of all, system specs

AMD XP 2800+ 1 GB RAM
Geforce FX 5600 256Mb
Windows XP SP1
Divine Divinity version 1.34

I need help! I have this cute little mage (lvl 20) and I wanted to complete the cursed "cursed abbey" quest. Everything was going fine, my lightning bolts were frying those undead soldiers when I noticed that my stamina was decreasing continuously even when I was standing motionless!

I encountered this problem before (I re-started the game just to check if the save file was corrupt) and I thought I had finally solved it. I cannot recall exactly when my stamina begins to fade away, probably it might be after using the teleporter, but I can´t tell for sure. I have tried the following:
- Uninstall and re-install
- Save the game with full stamina (after drinking a potion), uninstalling and re-installing
- Emptying the "Dynamic" folder

I am sorry to say that none of these two worked. My previous saves from before entering the cursed abbey seem fine in terms of stamina so I am inclined to think the save file might be corrupt, but since I have encountered the problem twice I am at a loss. Might there be a problem with the fact that I still ahve gone to the Dwarven Bread Inn or something or that is just irrelevant?

As I said I cannot recall the EXACT moment when I begin to lose my stamina, really sorry about that.

Any help/tip/suggestions will be gratefully acknowledged. If you have reached this far, thanks a lot for your patience.

Cheers,

Abaddon

I'd guess since the first level of the abbey, in the north east corner. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
There is a Halberd of the Rock in the abbey with a description like 'there is something strange about this weapon', which will drain your stamina. Check your weapon inventory, and drop or sell it.

Yet another one that I owe you Raze (and counting) DAMN THAT HALBERD, I THOUGHT THE "THERE IS SOMETHING STRANGE" MEANT THAT IT WAS SOME KIND OF MEGA-WEAPON! *sigh* Sorry for the trouble

Thanks a lot mate

Don't feel bad abaddon18, this problem could happen to anyone. And if you don't believe me, just search for "stamina" or "cursed abbey", and you'll come up with at least 300 other posts that ask this question. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

Seriously though, at least you didn't lose your temper, like some people who had been really embarrased after. You know those typical: "OMG TH1S GAM3 IS ZSOO BugGY, I H4TE 1T, IT SUxx0r!! M1 St4MinA is goign donw! grrrr <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" />" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ROFL.gif" alt="" />

Anyway... Enjoy the rest of the game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The thing is, I searched for "cursed abbey", but no threads came up (probably I mispelled it) so I posted this thread.

In any case, thanks a lot for your help Raze and for your supporting comment Tovi. I don´t think losing your temper would solve the problem anyways. In those cases you´re simply better off leaving the PC for a little while so you can air your brains out. Hmmm, maybe a thread entitled "Coping with DD bugs (i.e. DON´T BURN YOUR PC!!!)" would help although I think Raze has already done an excellent job for that matter

Take care and thanks again,
