What it says on the tin, why did the French translator's change Gale's name to Gayle?

I understand turning Shadowheart into Ombrecoeur as the cheese factor would not translate as well, but "Gayle"?

Non-English speakers, did the Companion's names change in your version of the game?

I only played a short while with the German version (because I only found out later where to change the language setting), Shadowheart is translated to the German Schattenherz. But Gale or any other name stayed the same.

I'm guessing it's a pronunciation thing, as the "a" sound is more of an "ah" in french. Also gale is french for scabies, so that was probably a factor as well.

Hah! Love it.

Scabs is definitely the new nickname for Gale.

Same reason Vauxhaul Motors had to change the car model name of the Nova in Spain because it means "Doesn't go"...

Probably because "La gale" is "Scabies" therefore an infection...
