It took many many hours since whenever I die I start over and don't restore prior saves. Traps were my main bane, not combat which was typically easy given the ability to have almost unlimited potions and use them without taking up a combat turn. Only one combat was challenging after act 1 and that was the place I was taken too by a oh-so-helpful cave ghost <snarl> near the end.

This forum was a lifesaver - I don't love puzzles and the help I got here with the puzzles made the game a lot more fun. Hopefully I've given some help back too.

I finished as a level 30 warrior with my DK a mage. The hammer was especially useful since it paralyzes the enemy. Though a mass damage spell was nice to have when swarmed by over a dozen enemies higher level than we were.

The final battle was, er, interesting. The enemy didn't use potions but was level 40 and thus real hard to hit. Having a STRONG aversion to replaying the entire game to get back to that fight I came up with what proved to be a highly successsful strategm almost at once. Switched myself to have maximum points in the hammer spell (with my intelligence of 1 LOL) and alternated hammer spells and swinging my big sword. The rest was easy - the enemy only was unparalyzed a few times and couldn't hurt me faster than I could suck down potions - thanks to the hammer I could hurt him.

Congrats, Ariana <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />- but Velthuijsen warned you, right? (Cave ghost). are you going to replay and try out another tactic?
Kiya <curious>

What I would like to know => how many creatures were summoned in the end fight? I played on easy and had only 3-4.

I played on the default difficulty (tactical) and had maybe 3-4 summons against me - a few I killed by accident <smile> and the others I ignored. One moron of a summons kept fireballing me and my enemy - helped me out a little.

Yes - mana isn't exactly an issue (I finished with a few hundred blue and white potions without making any attempt to accumulate them) so I may try two mages just for the heck of it. In DD I was rather successful with mages and warriors (archery was more powerful there) and didn't do much with rogues and will probably do the same here.

The rogue you still recall who got to the end at such a low level people didn't believe it and asked for screenshots (good memory, Kiya) was an aberration - I was able to get further and accumulate less experience using that class. For the challenge I suspened my usual hardcore approach - the rogue actually died a few times especially against a certain female boss. But scorpions won out in the end, as always.

Ok lets throw <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" /> for Ariana for making it.

And you should just think Mr. 'helpful' cave ghost as providing you with a free level <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I think we're supposed to rush through that area without trying to kill stuff until we get to the exit.

Hm, stepping through the rift quickly did the trick => "keep your focus" was her advice, correct?

Isn't that the other ghost? The one that puts you and samuel in the same maze?

Oh, the cave ghost is the teleporter one? I only kept their real names in memory => Anrauzam or Anbassam? Both were ladies.

<smiles>. I haven't at all forgotten who gave the warning about the cave ghost - woot what a swarm of high level mobs that turned into!

As of the start of the citadel two mages has been about as easy as two warriors. Just takes more potions. Of course <broad grin> this is partly because I play them like two warriors. Each has a shortsword sharpened to the maximum - they raised agility specially with this in mind. So most enemies they have no problems meleeing - the few that are more annoying they either melee also and cast a few heals or take some heal potions or switch to magic and take a few mana potions (since each cast takes most of their mana bar).

I'm a few feet from the first DK patrol now - I suspect those will need magic unless I have a few lucky shortsword swings. My damage as a shortsword swinging mage is adaquate to kill them if I take some potions and I hit (base around 75 which is pathetic by warrior standards but generally does the job) but my accuracy is low so I probably will miss those guys - as usual I'm getting to them about level 10.
