The allies in Fallout 2 are also pretty stupid, but you can atleast turn off there burst mode (well some atleast), but whenever they start bursting, chances are still big you get hit.
And the thing I like about this game is that we can fully concentrate on 1 character wich is cool. (No poundering about who to take with ya )

what's wrong with 3D??

It takes too much processor power and game coding time. I'd rather they spent their time on the story and gameplay than on graphics. An RPG doesn't need full 3D.

Things i wanted:

- Balance (for example, scorpions - level 10 instead of 100, 20 instead of 200...);

- No starting skills, but starting skill points (if i want to be a mage, but don't want summon vermin skill, for example), well, simply more customization before game, but for those, that don't want to customize, leave pre-customized classes ;

- More higher level weapons (i was using giant swords and hunting bows and was wearing 70 strenght armor when i was Janus' bodyguard... when i had strenght of 100 and agility of 150 i was still using same weapons) - i really got bored, the only thing that saved me was that i found some "nice bastard sword of wraith" with damage well over a decent giant sword (and bastard swords are one hand weapons) - but it didn't last too long, i needed a new one when i reached wastelands ;

- Also more weapon and armor appearances, expecially for relics like Dragon Armor;

- a weapon in each hand would be VERY nice (remember the story a retired adventurer in the farmlands tells you - his encounter with several assasins - like he used his 2 scimitars and then a mage helped him? well, i wanted 2 scimitars too!!! )

- i think skills like assasin's kiss need to be reconsidered... yes, it's hard to make survivalist skills and to balace them with other in the game, where every class can have any skill, but i really think it isn't any good and doesn't make much sense... a good strong (+ 500% damage? / + 50% chance death?) backstab could be a nice alternative, but would need to be implemented in levels (like make monsters wait for a long time before continuing wandering about, so that an assasin can sneak on them and backstab them?)

- wish for DD 2 would be more classes - and more classes would also mean more skill "trees" and special moves (btw, didn't find good use for sneak and mage's special move is impressive, but i found it almost useless);

- to be continued (may be)

And talking about 3D...
Did you play Morrowind (The Elder Scrolls III)? Because my pc is pertty weak, i had to use 800x600 resoluton and every settings to the minimum, but i still enjoyed it. Morrowind is nice 3D RPG game with elements of FPS (3d hack-&-slash ) But i stopped playing it, because i was experiencing more crashes than any other game i have played and i found several very unbalaced skills and features. Still, Morrowind was beautiful, interesting and enjoyable.
