Hey I know this will sound really stupid but I just bought this game and I cannot find the cd key anywhere. I checked the box, the manual and on the CDs and nothing. Can anyone tell me where to look for the CD key so I can play this game? THank you for the help.

Heh, i dunno. I know there's a copy protection thing, but i think it just checks for a CD in the drive.

make sure that you have the paly cd in the same drive that you installed the game from. If that does not work contact Larian Studios at support@larian.com

Yeah I had the same problem as you, but then I realized your supposed to put the 2nd CD into the drive and then it worked.

Your supposed to run the game off the 2nd CD and not the 1st, even though it didn't mention that anywhere on the discs since they are only labelled "disc one" and "disc two" and not "install disk" and "game disk". I assumed that the play disc was disc one. It doesn't even mention this in the manual.

When I had this problem of CD key error message I was looking all over for the CD Key but it turns out it automatically reads the CD Key from disc two.

So you probably put the wrong disc in.

Not necessarily.
The Benelux cd's are labeled "Installation cd" and "Game cd".
I too sometimes have the same problem, with the Game cd: it won't always accept the disk, and I get the same error. Usually when I eject and reinsert the disk again it'll work.

LordByron is right. If you're facing the installation however, the cd-key error you get means that you have to insert disk 2, because that contains the cd-key needed to decrypt the code. (or something like that)

It seems one of the publishers screwed up, as I have a game disk and an installation disk, and during installation I just get a normal "insert game disk to continue" message. Oh well...

Lot's of people (including me) have had problems with the instructions because they are very misleading.

The CD's in the English version are labeled Disc 1 and Disc 2; they are not labeled Install and Game (or Play) disk. Also, you would expect that you need to actually look for a CD key printed on the disc or the packaging.

All you have to do is make sure Disc 2 is in your drive when you start the game. Be patient, the first time the key is read it might be kind of slow. Hope this helps.
