I am considering buying Beyond Divinity with some of my graduation money and have played the demo but have a few questions....

How long do you have that Death Knight with you? (I dislike controlling more than one person)

Is their anyway to make the combat more like Divine Divinity as in one click = one attack, opposed to on the demo you click on a guy and your guy moronicly gets over to the enemy and fights extremely slowly...

Is there alot of cities with all kinds of new items and houses to take over like in Divine?

How about item variation, now be honest, In Divine Divinity there was not many armor or weapons, and many of them looked identical when equipped, is this the same?

Customization, Is there a .ini file for you to edit to change little secret options or are you stuck with like no options at all.... and Is there a way to add new faces and hair colors by messing with files?

Thanx for reading all of this!!!

The death knight is with you the entire game. I'm not sure what you mean by one click, one attack, but if you want your guy to attack faster, either get a bow or increase his speed. :P I suppose there's really not that many "cities". More like bases for each act. Each act has one area where you can buy stuff, initiate quests, and stuff like that. As for item variation, most of them look the same, but there are a few items out there that look pretty cool, like the Shadow items.

One click = One attack means.... You click a guy and your guy whacks em once. In this you need to hold ctrl in or youll just run somewhere... grrr its so irritating to play, Divine Divinity was fun but from what ive played in the demo this game is just irritating.

I don't have any problem targeting enemies with just a click unless they are running, in which case I either pause or use a ctrl-click.

Character models are now in 3D, so different equipment is displayed on the character, and there are more variations in equipment.

Custom portraits were considered, but did not make it into the game.

The demo had uneasy targetting, this was fixed in the full version. Also, I don't know if you realize this, but in Divine Divinity, you didn't have to keep clicking an enemy to attack it.

There's more items in BD, and all of them look different on the character, unlike in DD. Now, for instance, you can equip a straw hat, and it actually looks like a straw hat.

As for options... What options did you have in mind? (Concidering BD is a 2D game...)

Like the INI options in alot of games, like bieng able to force change the resolution and refresh rate, disableing enabling shadows and particles, changing gore amounts. enabling auto potion keys, ect.. just little htings like that I like. They arnt in the options screens you open the config.ini file and change it yourself, i like that freedom

You can edit the config.div file to change the resolution from the officially supported ones. There is a fog option, but not refresh rate (that I know of) or gore. Hot keys can be assigned to potions and skill selection.

I'm also Considering buying. The voice overs in the demo were done very very poorly... How is the voice acting in the full release? It's very disheartning to play a game with bad acting and voices.
Thanks...

welcome!

the DK is a different voice, and several of the guards voices are redone.

The DK's voice, IMO, is worse. In the demo, it's monotonous and matter-of-fact (which I prefer -- dry humor is great), but in the retail version of the game, it becomes a... thuggish, almost comical voice. The voiceactor, methinks, tried just a tiny bit too hard.

The rest of it seems to be improved, though. At least the imps' voices don't make my ears bleed anymore.

I still think the skill system is a horrid idea, and... well, there are a lot of complaints I'll level at the game, but I'll do that when I've played some more of it. Suffice to say that I'm distinctly unimpressed thus far. The Battlefields may be a good idea, but the execution is extremely poor, and I'm being generous with my mild adjective. (Yay bad level design and lackluster dungeon slapped together!)

Do not consider, go now. Buy it. From what I've played so far, it's amazing. The only thing I haven't liked was the voices, but you can turn them off. Once that's done, it's one of the best games to come out this year and easily the best RPG of this year so far.

Query: how many other CRPGs have come out this year?

Oh, yes. Sacred.

It's got its own bevy of bugs, as well. I'm hard pressed to say which game I'm more unimpressed with. Heh. Admittedly, however, Sacred was fun for a while (and the combat's much, much better. Hell's bells, so are its interface and graphics), whereas I'm forcing myself through BD to give the game a chance. (Good story better emerges, and emerges soon, before I uninstall.) With some luck, next year's batch of CRPGs will have much more luster and innovation to them, because both Sacred and BD are about as original as eggs on toast.

*cue sinister music* I'll really be "at it" soon, after I've played more of the game to form a more complete opinion.
