I don't understand it. I reformatted my computer, its running great, and I get major slow down in parts of Verdistes to the point where the game stops for 5 - 10 seconds and than continues. Could it be because of the video card? I haven't had time to make much progress with school, a girlfriend, and working all the time (random I know).

Had the same problem, but not only in Verdistis.

It might be you RAM or not enough memory on your graphic card.

I used an AMD 850 MHz with 256 MB Ram and a onboard 32 MB graphic card.

the prob's with the game, not your pc specs nor OS configurations. almost everybody has that problem until they patched the game. so get that latest patch to kill that worry & continue having fun.

Hi DeltaWolf,

Make sure you don't have any other programs running in the background. There is also a readme file with performance tips for Divinity that talks about handling slow game speed IIRC.

Thanks.

Hi Janggut,

Without going off-topic too much, I think this link where Dad talks about advanced systems could explain what I mean:

HAL

Also, DeltaWolf, you could try changing the mode in the configuration program (i.e. to Software or Directdraw) before loading a game where you are in Verdistis. Remember to save periodically so as to avoid missing too much when the game really decides to slow down or even crash.

Thanks.

If I can remember correctly, the slow down only use to happen when there is a lot of NPC's on the screen. This happened in Verdistis and the Market area.
I'm not sure wich version of DirectX I'm using, but the OS is Windows XP.

The slow down was not a big hassle, just sometime a bit annoying. Luckly the game only crashed once on me.

I think game tend to load graphics only when they're needed. In Verdistis there is a great number of civilian skins. Perhaps it is loading all of these at once, causing the delay.

No, the NPCs where never the problem. The roofs (those were added later) cause that slowdown, but with the latest patches that should be gone.

So why do I get slow downs in the forest? I don't notice them much as my computer can handle to game without a problem, but it's like it's loading little bits and pieces as I go cross-country.

Not fussed, just curious.

Hi everyone,

I am playing DD one week now, and I had the same problem. I run windows XP and Directx V.9. I think that it has something to do with that. The dierectx I mean. I uninstalled the V.9 and I reinstalled V.8 from the game cd and now DD runs perfectly.

By the way I want to thank you all about the help because reading this forum made me solve many system problems and I can now play hours and hours...

I agree. I read somewhere else about problems with directX 9 too.
