Well Homeword I was one of a kind, It was a nice RTS altho I liked to see more conquer elements in it.
All by all, If you haven't played Homeworld 1, I would download it to know the concept.
It's one of these days...

I've played homeworld1, never finished it though . I loved it and i loved the demo of the second one. Spectially the new subsystems on the ships

I loved HW1, because I loved the ship drawings by Chris Foss. I've almost anticipating it would hit here. : There is a special "Demo Forum" there at Relicnews : HW2 Demo Feedback ForumDemo Bug Forum

to add another voice approving homeworld, i liked the first one & it's definitely as what draghermosran described: one of a kind. never before & after that no developer so far has made true 3D navigation RTS. no more dealing with X & Y but also Z axes. a tactical nightmare for first timers. took some time 2 learn but it's fun fun fun.
the details in the game is still astounding even until today. u can zoom all the way out till u almost see a star system. zoom in & u can get as close as above-the-shoulder view.
the scale of the game? breathtaking.
& i've yet 2 try out homeworld 2. it'll be a blast.
jurak & the rest of the forum, if u're a trialer buff like me, u may want 2 download the trailer for ground control 2.

Homeworld! Wonderful game! I enjoyed the first one, played till the very end. Funny thing was after I captured all ion-cannon corvettes in the ion-cannon convette sphere mission. Had around 100 corvettes
Great game, as it was already mentioned, unique, one of a kind. Learning was not a pain, there was good tutorial in it (I mean HW1).
It had beautiful music and very nice graphics. HW2 seems to be very promising also.
I highly recommend for those who wanna try out 3d space strategy game.

HW1 was also the reason I bought "The Ladder" by Yes, part of the Soundtrack, I guess.
It has been for quite a while the album I liked most.
For me, HW is a Gem among RTS games.
By the way, does anybody play online ? How do you think would it workl with a modem as connection ?

I did not play the first HomeWorld, but played Homeworld Cataclysm, wich was the second one in the series (Don't know why they call the new one HW2). If HW2 is anything close to HWC then it should be a brilliant game. The graphics is very good, and loved the 3D space combat.

Cataclysm was a stand-alone expansion
i had it too, i loved the game even though the last level in the campaign is impossible even for a keyboard cowboy like myself
seriously though has anybody actually BEATEN the last level in cataclysm?

Yes I've beaten the last level, must admit was extreamly difficult. Almost gave up, but then I tried something different: [color:"#666666"] [/color] I've changed the difficulty level to the easyest and beat the game that way

I've only played the Tutorial from HWC so far, and to me it seems as if it is quite different to the original HW1, more "techie", so to say.

i've finished the campaign in the demo & it's SWEEEETTT!!!! as always i love the anime look of the FMV. it's divx this time instead of bink.
the gameplay is great as always but no more formation(which the original homeworld implements best). it's replaced by tactics which sets the stance of your space crafts 2 aggresive, defensive or passive, which have their own formation. bye bye sweet looking jaw-dropping fly-bys.
storyline's ok so far in the demo but i expect some kind of twists in the full version once i get it.
skirmish is great, with the usual punishing AI. heck easy means beating players easily. normal means normally players get beaten under 15 minutes & hard means impossible.
have yet 2 try out the multiplayer part.
btw, my old rig is duron 700MHz, geforce4 mx440se, 256MB DDR266, 20GB 5400rpm HD. almost max out the video settings & it still rocks!
no EAX options though.
yet 2 find a bug but will tell u guys/gals more soon.

i think u missed it in my last post. however here it is again;
duron 700MHz 256MB DDR 266MHz 20GB HD nVidia Geforce4 MX440SE (entry level Aopen)
in the graphics option, the only thing i didn't max out is shadows(off) & lighting level of detail(medium). it works great, alrik!
sound-wise, it's great with the haunting music in the background. i have 2 mourn again that it has no EAX support.
well the game's already out in stores in the US so i hope it'll reach malaysian shores soon.
