Digging out old threads you are, yes ? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I don't know about this. This was then a "multi-author story" and it was fun. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'm pondering on trying to translate it one day, really more properly, then, for the English-language audience. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

But I don't know ehen I might do it, because I still have in mind how difficult it has been once for me - not to forget the sheer mass of text !

Plus, this story was rather oriented at the DSA-system (The Dark Eye system).

Yesss... it's far more fun necro-ing dead threads than replying to the same threads repeatedly like a mouse on a treadmill.

Heh... well, the translations are kinda rough but the story is far more interesting than some technically well-written stories.

Yeah... translation is tough. I've always envied how some people translate thousands of pages in just a few months!

Oh, it was aimed at the DSA-system, huh? Oh well..

DSA = The Dark Eye, or the Realms of Arcania games.

We had them in mind, but the story wasn't were *directly* for it, although some elements were taken from this system.

And the translation ... Look, I was fairly untrained, then ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Nowadays, I'd do it much more different, imho.

Wow! So the "epic poem" recited in the market by that weird artist dude was written by you, Alrik? That's awesome! Great job. I laughed and contemplated the poem, because superficially it sounds almost silly, but there really is some meaning there! Loved it!

Speaking of necro'ing threads....

AlrikFassbauer, I would like to personally thank you for that OP. Raze directed me to this thread from the Steam forums for Divine Divinity when I'd asked for help with the books I now know to be the Lost Kingdom Books (they cause my game to crash to desktop every time I try to open one). He also directed me to the book text file, though I do not know German either way.

I am in awe of the community that exists here, and the history you have put forth from your perspective. I smiled each time I saw you mention a name of someone from current and past forums that became characters within Divine Divinity. I also had a big grin on my face when I realized that the epic poem paper I keep in my character's Misc. inventory is the poem that you wrote. I am likewise very happy to see that you linked your translation of the Roleplay thread in this topic. I will be reading that immediately!

I also now have a much deeper respect for Larian now that I've read your words. It is a rare thing to see a game developer that cares so much for the community that has existed around them for so long, and it brings a smile to my face.
