Ok, I read that engineer is weak to poison...I am a mage/archer so I don't have skill to plant scorpian trap...

Has anyone beat engineer with magic? I am lvl 24 mage/archer...His hellspike is very deadly...I got one demonic aide. Maybe I should just kill him later when I am lvl 30.

I finally beat him...after many death...he is weak to freeze but I just have to live long to cast at him...his spike is unbeatable...

Even with a Freeze sword he was a pain to beat. Once combat started, I froze him and started picking off all of his minions, taking care to refreeze the Engineer when necessary. Once the rest were dead, I concentrated on the Engineer, keeping him frozen. Of course, my finger was on the Health Potion hot-key the whole time. I didn't need many thankfully.

Actually I recommend putting at least one point in Deadly Gift... I loved that skill!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> Quite often I'd let one of those little fellas go and stand back and collect the experience! I took so many of those buggers with me to the final area that I had to walk part of the way there until I could set up a small camp for myself and set some of them down. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

how did i beat the engineer by not using scorpies?

don't the scorpions halve xp gained from their kills?


if the answer is yes, is that true of summoned creatures and other traps?

Maybe I'm not playing on the same difficulty level as you guys, but the engineer was not a big problem. Level 23 mage at the time. (I assume we are talking about the cursed abbey here???) (I play on normal by the way.) Also, i couldn't freeze engineer with level 4 freeze.

After he summoned his minions I ran out of the room. Took a couple of hits, but nothing big. (Probably could have used special move to make a better escape.) Then took out all his minions. Steel skellies with lightning, Liches with Meteorstrike (sp?)

Then it was just a matter of keeping a distance and Meteor striking Engineer. It was a bit of the oll' pauze/run/minor restoration (I think 3 potions of) but then he was down.

well, I don't use pause ever in battle. So it was very hard to run away from the lvl 5 hellspike. The minions were blocking my exit. I don't use lightening because I am mage/archer. He is weak to freeze but you just have to cast it before he cast lvl 5 spike on you.

he could've charged more for all that levelling up in his haunted abbey theme park.
