Downloads, the link to Server1 is for the 1.0033a patch...

There is no link to the 1.0034 patch available..

However this link.. http://larian.com/Site/english/divinity/english.html

Will lead to the correct patch..

Can someone grab the web guy and get the download page updated with the correct patch link?

As i've just played the entire game in 33a...and to be safe i've deleted all my save games and patched to 34..prolly find its all broken now...;/!!

DivineDivinity.com is a site by the publisher, CDV. I believe they know there is a later patch, they just do not care. The fact they have a link to the 1.33 patch may mean that they finally actually did some testing of it. In any case, I don't think they intend to officially acknowledge / endorse the 1.34 patch.

The only difference between 1.33 and 1.34 was a fix for a potential problem in 1.33 which could reset the maps in games started under a previous version.
See Map has gone back to black and Solution for patch and disappearing maps.

I got this patch eventually..

It seems CDV are a very bad publisher... about 99% of all CDV games released have dreadful support, if you read the forums many of the lastest games released through cdv arent getting any patch support at all. A simple thing like not updating a link to a patch is just typical.. still cdv are along way from electronic arts who prefer to use the wild goose chase for a support system.. ie you never get an answer you just spend years scrolling through rubbish most of which is unrelated to the game or reviews from game mags who obviously got paid to make them!

Call me a sceptic lol!

A question, Rugster: If you play a game and it crashes, has bugs etc = where does your anger go to in the first place?

ohh.. it depends on the crash..

If its some pathetic press lever game crashes bug that should've been spotted in testing it goes to the forums in a rant..or in an email with extreme amounts of "poor" language to the software company that made the game..

If its a CTD i usually reboot, make a note of what i remember happening prior to ctd and check those notes against the next ctd for relevence. (Crash to Desktop without error remarks are difficult to track or solve)

If it crashes after hours of not saving for no apparent reason, especially if it hangs or freezes, usually my anger goes to the mouse, keyboard, coffee mug on wall, head bouncing off ceiling or running around the streets with a big stick (with a nail in it), screaming manically...

Why do you ask? You think people write to forums full of rage at software failures and thus makes forums generally negative places and thus suggests the software manufacturer or publisher cant do thier job properly? Which is all true btw... look at Sonys Starwars Galaxies or Planetside and you'll find 99% of all posts are complaints about bugs or content, which does show that they are obviously incompetant at making games..just like cdv..oddly enough.. but cdv are a publisher more than a manufacturer, larian made dd not cdv..

The link to the v1.34 patch is under support on the Larian web site. Patch releases are also commonly announced, in addition to reviews.

As far as where you direct anger, I think Kiya meant Larian (who did not make everything perfect in the time they were given) vs CDV (who rushed the release, gave very poor support, took a very long time to do the quality assurance for the patch and have a previous patch on their site with a known bug that could seriously effect games started before installing the patch).

My point tho.. is if you have 3 options which you do..

www.cdv.com
www.divindiviity.com
www.larian.com

The automatic assumption for finding a patch for Divine Divinity is at the DD website not at larian or cdv.. and at the dd website there is no link to 34 patch.. only to 33a patch...

As for times taken to do a job that usually comes down to a cowardly yesman in the devs team.. its usually the guy you nod to every morning but cant remember his name..we had that where i worked at, 1 guy was always allowing stupidly short time releases on games software which most often hadnt even finished alpha...nothing worse than not even having the basics setup when some prat tells the publisher that the game will be finished in 3 months and it actually wont be ready for another 2 years! I can understand that. It always annoys me when a publisher announces a 2nd version to a game then tells you it'll be out in Nov 2003 then a few months later its feb 2004 then late 2004... and so on, watch previews for Doom3 or HL2 or other rpg games..publishers have alot to answer for, unfortunately, most software companies dont have the courage to sell the games themselves they prefer to leave that to someone else... this often in itself limits the supply.. i think this is why many european games have reached few outlets, whereas games sold directly from the manufacturer have made world wide reviews..The difference between Electronic arts.. EA made games and sold everyone elses..its just a pity alot of EA games are rubbish..but now EA is one of the biggest supplies.. simply because they published thier own games..

Yes, I agree with that. However, you are complaining on Larian's web site about a decision by CDV regarding content on CDV's web site. CDV may be willing to change the link, or at least mention that there is a newer (unsupported) patch at the developer's web site, but Larian can not do much about this.

Actually, that's not always true. Until reading your post i didn't even know divinedivinity.com was an actual website.

When I first bought the game one of the first things it said during a loading screen was to visit larian.com so I did. I assumed it was the official site since it was mentioned in the game to come here.

Last night when I decided to get the newest patch, larian.com was the address I typed into my url bar.

BTW, all it took was an email to CDV, and they now list the v1.34 patch at divinedivinity.com.

Interesting. I had never believed they at CDV would finally do something about this.

@Rugster : It seems to me you don't know much about the relationship between CDV, Larian, and the community ... It's not that good ...
