Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems Alt Key does not show me boxes or items

Hi, I did a search and could not find anything regarding this. I hope that someone here may have the answer.

First, I would like to say... I love this game so far.

Second, I wish that the Alt key worked for me. Does it work for you?

If I have my mouse pointer over an item and then press the Alt key, the description on the item dissapears as long as I hold down the Alt key.

If I don't point the mouse at anything and I hit the Alt key, well... nothing is shown.

So if anyone has any info that might help me out, please clue me in. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
I would be grateful for whatever advise you may have on this subject.

There are no alt descriptions for boxes, plants, etc. but there should be for equipment, teleporter stones, potions, etc. If you hit the alt key then move the cursor over the item, the description should stay there; I don't remember every doing that the other way around.

Maybe it is a graphics glitch? As a wild guess, try running the configuration program and checking the 'Use AlphaBit' box. Have you checked for updated video card drivers?

Maybe a re-install (after backing up your saved games) would help?

I guess that I was thinking that when you hit the alt key that everything you can interact with would become outlined in a fine white light.

I guess that is not what should be happing so I can live with that.

I will also try the alpha bit thing in the configuration.

BTW, I tried leaving my cursor over an item and hitting the alt key; the description just below the cursor was removed, to be replaced with one a bit closer to the item. It appears the cursor can trigger the descriptions for you, but not the alt key.

Yes, it is strange. now when I use the alt key, it shows me several items and doors. I swear it wasnt doing that before. Maybe it was just a glitch.

I had a glitch last night with quiting the game. I was ready to sleep and so I hit quit game and it asked me if I want to and I couldn't say yes or no. The screen just froze.

I think that it may have just been a glitch and if I keep having strange things happen, I will just reinstall it and go from there.
