everyone in divine divinity says that there is war between the elves and the dwarves and between the humans and the orcs. but you see no war at all with the elves and the dwarves and only a bit with the humans and the orcs. I'd really like to see some dwarves ramming an elven gate or humans storming at the orcs. and in the wastelands, Zandalor tells you that they're under contineuis (whatever, as long as you know what I mean) siege of imps buti've never seen an imp trying to break trough those walls. And also Kroxy claims to be hunting imps all the time while he is always in his shop (i didn't really study his patern of living and I've seen him out of his house once, though). And some guy claims that it is dangerous in the poor quarter, but I've never seen a murderer or a murder (exept the Jonas - Balin quest.
I'd like to see more war aroun you. It'd also be nice if you could choose a side or stay neutral.

Well, this is no Strategy Game, this is rather an roleplaying game. And war in RPGs has hardly been ever invented yet ...

Well he does have a point... (At least I assume Pimp is a he ) That war felt pretty far from my bed as well when playing

This reminds me of Diablo LOD, where there was city under orcish siege. Very good idea, I liked this in Diablo, I think this will certainly bring more action and excitement into

Actually it was under demonic siege. And it was really was a war, unlike the "war" between the humans and orcs. Barbarian warriors scaling the highlands, being cut down left and right all around you by the minions of Baal, while siege engines catapulted fire and ice upon Harrogoth. There were prison camps under guard, commanders of rank that had to be taken down, etc. And all this from a hack and slash game that, for most people, doesn't qualify for an RPG. It's not something I necessarily expect from an RPG, but I think it would be great to see something like this in a Divinity game. That reminds of an RPG I played a long time ago called Soulbringer. I think towards the end you actually led a charge into battle. Very fun.

That is a very valid point - one of my deep regrets about Divinity was that the war didn't get visualized like we had planned it. The usual reasons applied. I also thought btw that the way they did it in Diablo was quite good.
Where stands it written that I have to be fair?

It would be nice if they actually made assaults, and got reinsforcements, and you found them inside the castle after a while, as you did quests slowly the orcs take over the castles (maybe you see cutscenes everyonce in a while seeing the castles fall).

But it means the monsters should've respawned, or else NPCs would've just killed each other before the player had the chance to interact with them! Does BD have respawning monsters except for Battlegrounds?

Does BD have respawning monsters except for Battlegrounds? Fortunately it does not Fortunately? No, not for me. I don't like the always respawning monsters in Diablo but I liked how it was done in Might and Magic 5 and 6: monsters were respawning every month or year. I don't remember. Thanks for the info, Myrthos.

hmm, but do we have time change in Div, like seasons? These battles could be triggered, like when you reach certain point the whole mess starts.
(Egin thinks a bit more and gets confused: but, but if you leave the area and come back will the war be over? Or the same things trigger again? But there is no respawn. )
Flixerflax - yay, thanks for reminding me of Diablo events

Might and magic 6 rules but respawning monsters in divinity could be annoying. I think that there shouldnt be instant respawning but a gradual one. a certain number of the monster population in a certain lenght of time. Also something else about the monsters.......why are some far more powerful than others of the same name? for example the war drummer near aleroth is well good, but i killed one later on and it was poo.....why?

yeh a war would be really cool as long as it didnt destroy any important npcs permanently perhaps just have one city which is under siege from orc armys with respawning archers and soldiers in the castle and respawning orcs on the other with a safe area where all the non fighters hid (npcs) kinda like lord of the rings the siege on that city.. in the second one i think it was.. cant remember exactly

i think that if you could be conscripted into the army it would be cool coz then you could get some killing in proper. It would be like joining the theives guild or whatever but the army. also you could join different parts like the archers bit and infantry that would be cool.

I like how Avernum handled war. If you sat around and did nothing, cities would be damaged and if you continued to do nothing entire cities would be destroyed by armies. These are CRPGs, not console, lets not baby the "real" gamers.
