Hey everyone I just picked up my copy today so Im a little new to everything in here although it does have a comparison to Diablo so I think this game is going to be sweet. Right now I'm working on clearing my way through the catacombs with my survivor (level 3 or 4 I'm not sure) and he's got decent armor and whatnot. My zombie allied from the candle died because of the orcs for some reason and as I moved through the catacombs I was mobbed by 20 skeletons so I had to deal with those (archers and warriors) but then a skeleton guardian came through and I had to run, so any advice on fighting that guy would be nice. What this is really about is Zombie Jake. I found my way into his wine cellar/dungeon and he popped up and it took my 8 health potions until he died (Im using a cudgel since mace/blunt weapons are usually good against zombies and skeletons) but he didnt drop anything? So is this guy worthwhile or not? I think I got something around 30 gold and a empty flask from the Vase.

I played as a Warrior, so I'm not the best for Survivor tips. As for Zombie Jake and other tough monsters, you're probably better off using a bow of some description.
Have fun!

Am I correct when I say that bows are good agains undead? With my sword I had real problems killing Jake, but when using the bow I can kill him very easy in around the same lvl.

when you are in the lower levels of the game, a bow is a nice thing to carry around just incase you find a creature like the skeleton guardian because then you have a ranged weapon and he has a direct combat weapon. so you can kill him from a distance.

I've only played the zon in v1.09 so I don't know how she does in v1.10. In 1.09 my Zon was/is my MF char--very successful Matriarch lvl 80 something. I used GA/LF. Another--a magezon coasts thru hell. My 1st Zon though couldn't beat the NM Acients so it all depends how you build 'em.

Or, you can put a piont into the mages skill of metersrike...it works well, recovery is fast, and you can also do that from a distance.

Meteor strike is less expensive (mana)than lightning and therefore might be a better choice especially for a nonmage with no investment in intelligence.
