Hi there,

inspired by a discussion in the German Help/Tips/Triks Forum and a request of myselve, I want t ask if it's may be possible to hide spoilers by a simple UBB Code.

I think some people (including me) prefer more to give hints first on peoples questions to there questsproblems or how to go further in the story of there game, instead of simply saing the whole solution. And for me it's the same in the other way. I more like getting just a hint what to do next instead somone tells me the whole story.

Well to keep a long story short:
Why isn't there the possibillity to hide youre answer and only if the reader want to see it, it is showen. You simply need a MouseOnOver - MouseOnOut Class Example: You difine a UBB Code like
So the text inbetween is coverd by a black bar and only if you slide youre mouse over the bar you can read the text.

Well just a suggestion!

Cheers
HPS

[color:"#37485A"]more spoiler
[color:"#37485A"]even more spoiler
**End spoiler

(Highlight the lines between **Spoiler and **End to view spoilers)

Well, there's a basic problem : a spoiler is only a spoiler in the eyes of the reader, not necessarily of the poster.

How bout
text

Yes that's right Alrik! The danger is then that suddenly everything is covert with a black bar <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
But as seen in an other forum it's working quite well there!
(I don't compare to other forums! This one here is by far the best i've seen <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> )

Well no HPS, you do not see the text even if you scroll down you have to click/drag between spoiler and end spoiler to see the text.

In the Divine Divinity English Help Section the things are really well done.

There are separated topics for each spoiler quest or group of quest and sub quests.
Lynn has collected all the links to these topics in one thread.
There is a special thread for spoilers, a special thread for maps, a special thread for skills.

When somebody answers to a question he can give just a few hints or/and give a link to a spoiler or a map.

If you don't want to read the spoiler, you don't open the link, that's all.

@Morbo, Warhammer
Ohh now I see, the coulercode is the couler of the backround!
Verry clever! Good Idear! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

@Barta
Thats a good solution as well. But I think it will be less work to implement a new class (UBB Code) than sort out the treads like that (in the german section it's not like in that as in the english one <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> )

Well I am an evil mastermind that tries to take over the world.MUHAHAHAHA

the problem is remembering the color code. So idd it would be best if theire was the
tag.

I once put forward the idea of adding the spoiler colour to the pallette at the bottom of the reply screen, but nothing ever came of it.

Testing...

Just the word spoiler and some text, should do nothing.

The word [spoiler with a [ in front of it.

Edit : added a <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'> tag around all of this :
---
The word <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'> enclosed in a [ and ]
Closing the tag : </span> <- closed it.
---
Here the edit ends </span>.

And again, <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'> not closing it at the end of the post. -> the end </span>

Edit : testing the edit function
Another spoiler added in edit : <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'>this is a spoiler</span>.

Edit : testing editing the edit.

Edit : checking nested spoiler tags after 2 edits. For fun, <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'> an unclosed spoiler tag in the edit. The end.</span>

<span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'>Then you throw the egg at the moose.</span>

I don't see the point. How is this any better than just writing it?

EDIT: Okay, that's strange... When the page first loaded, all the spoilers were visible as normal text. When I previewed this, it was normal text. Since I posted it, it's invisible.

I like the end result! Now was that a bug or some random error?
