To the powers that be: Any way to increase or (better) eliminate the timer on editing your own post? A lot of us like to tinker with our previous posts.

thanks

I would appreciate an increased rate, too. I believe it is more practical to keep thread info together than breaking it up.

Not? So you didn't try to change something you posted after sending it till now? Then just write something stupid and then try to make it undone, you just can't <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I agree, this timer is not really handy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
It's not possible to correct spelling mistakes some time after you made them, it's not possible to correct links after a while etc.

Would be nice if this timer could be disabled. A good mechanism would be to have the "this post has been edited by" text appear if someone else has replied in the meantime, but otherwise editing one's post should not be punished.
Sure, there is the new nifty preview feature, but that alone is often not enough in my opinion.

The FAQ says you can Edit for one hour.

Well, Dragh, just think of the RPG glossary/Wasteland Chronicles = how will I be able to update it with this timer, hm?

Off hand, I don't believe I have made one elaborate post that I have not gone back and edited at a later time to add detail, clarify a point, etc. Some topics, like my 'Lost items' post, get updated with new information periodically. When I did a few calculations on the benefits of the Wisdom skill, a couple of points were brought up causing me to try some other variations, which I added to the original post. If this information was spread out over three or more posts throughout the topic, it would make it much harder to get an overview of the skill.

Having to reply to the topic to make additions or corrections is messy, unorganized and will detract from the usefulness of the forum.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: It looks to me like they have now turned the timer off. can anyone confirm this?

The timer is set on 48 hours now. Don't know if we can make it longer, I'll have a look into it.

It seems the board replaces the smilie-code directly with the html-code pointing to the smilie. And since the new <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> doesn't seem to hear on the name "wink.gif" it isn't displayed...
