Patch at your own risk, it appears +stat items no longer give you the +stats promised. Example: The helm that gives +12 luck, no longer gives anything.

I hope it's just you, I've been waiting to start the game for it to get patched decent. I thought 1.41 was the ONE!

It is not just me, I'd wait a month before playing if you haven't started yet.

1.41 still fixed a big problem I had with 1.4 - my summoning doll wouldn't hold an inventory! Which sucked because of course I load him up with second-hand armor and stuff I don't want to carry. 1.41 fixes that. But cause a whole bucketload of other new problems along the way, unfortunately. That's what they get for rushing these patches out the door, I suppose.

Very true. We're all so antsy to play! It's unfortunate these bugs weren't found pre-release.

Well, some of them were newly born with each new patch. I know Larian will eventually get it all straightened out. It's just getting pretty frustrating right now trying to play the game. I just know another restart of the game will be required.

I'm patched to 1.4 (I decided to skip 1.41 until I saw feedback... I may learn slow, but eventually I DO learn! ). My summoning dolls hold an inventory. I took the precaution of emptying their pockets before installing 1.4, then had each doll pick their possessions up from the ground and voila! Everything was ducky with them. In fact, they do not de-spawn in 15 to 30 seconds as they had done previously, so I can now actually using the summoning dolls!

I may never install V. 1.41 . If BF dungeons are empty, they're empty. I don't care any more. I'll deal with what I've got, and if a game-breaking bug hits, then the game is over. Meanwhile I shall get my jollies where I can by exploiting the permanent potion bug and the overpowered pickpocket skill, and try to win back the trust of gamer friends who bought this game on release day based on my confident pledge that it would be worth the money. Eventually perhaps it will be; but at the moment it's not.

They shouldn't be empty in 1.4, if you started your game with 1.4. You should be fine in that regard...

Hmm, not having the lucky cap problem with 1.41 here. All my stat-boosting items seem to work fine so far. However, my quest log is now full of $ERROR$ stuff on the Battlefields quests.

The reason there are so many problems is because you're all installing and running old saves. If you want things to fix right you're going to have to acctep the fact that you need to start over again. I started fresh and have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS other than my gripes about weightless shoes and the non-scaling weight of arrows, but everything else has been flawless for me.

I started from scratch with 1.4, and I found plenty of problems, primarily Battlefields stuff of course.

I tried 1.41, but after seeing the totally screwed quest log, I just reinstalled w/ 1.40.

Don't be so sure... A lot of these recent patches actually break more than they fix.

mm let me get this straight

in order for patch changes to take effect (any patch) , you have to start a fresh new game?

if thats the case i guess i have been patching for nothing and still playing 1.00

In order for the patch to take effect (assuming you downloaded AND installed it) - you have to load an older save and then re-save it, so the changes take effect.

Exception Battlefields => they are generated when you enter it the 1st time - so changes won't occur in the current act you're in - but is supposed to take an effect as soon as you enter the next act - then the BF is generated anew.

My examples => I had the German version 1.3 (not 1.31) - then I got the English version, installed and patched it to 1.4. Loaded a German save into it and saved it => was a 1.4 now (IN English!) - yeah, it worked. And I saw quest changes.

German tech crack Barnie is so kind to help me - he explains every time patiently, how I should rename my registry before installing the game + additional patch version - and at the moment I'm having 2 partitions with several patch versions:
GV 1.2
GV 1.3
EV 1.4

I can swap between them - each version has a lot of saves I use to experiment. Nope, I'm not a beta tester - but I like to learn a bit about how a game works. And so far => I had NO crashes by playing, copying older saves into new versions. (Win XP Home, Athlon XP 2800, Geforce 4, 4200 - 1024 RAM)
In case you wonder => I want to help the Engllish gamers by using the correct quest and ingame names => therefore I need this procedure and both language versions.

I started from scratch as well and have many of the problems.
