Am I alone in thinking music is ... terrible compared to ?

music was fantastic at setting the mood for the location, and was very deep and professional.

... just doesn't work.

i've heard from a few people that music was just as good if not better than
It's only 1 more day, till I get to judge for myself.....
i would have had it by now but the store was closed when i got here...

I have to say I like the Beyond Divinity music, though I'm only a little way into the game. It's pleasent and mood-setting without being invasive.

Just a side note: it's the same composer for both games.

The only thing I do not like about BD's music it is that it suddenly stops quite often. That shoots the sense of immersion right in the foot.

Agreed. It seems to be sound related. Some sounds, noticably speech, kill the music.

I agree. DD had probably the better music, but BDs music keeps going wappy and it's hard to judge properly. I could just play it in winamp, but I need to 'experience' it first before I just listen.

Proffesional, how far are you into the game? I remember the very beginning of the game had music that didn't quite fit the atmosphere, but wait till you get to the citadel in act1 for instance. That's great music right there.

Just check your BD game directory. Go into the Wav file and then the Music file, and listen to songs like "promiss.ogg", "Celebration.ogg", "Time gate.ogg" or "Hidden Masters.ogg" and then come back and tell me the music in BD is terrible. (You'll need an ogg player like WinAMP for instance to play it though).

Anyway, the music BD has the same excellence as in DD, IMHO.

It better! Just ordered that fan pack afterall... My budget was screaming "Nooo-nooooo!", but then I remembered I'm just not good with money... so I mumbled a what-a-heck

You better have a nice autograph, Rhi!

The music is by no means terrible, just terrible in comparison to , which was simply amazing.

music just feels out of place to me, and more hastily thrown together than the wonderful compilations in the first title. It really, really set the mood in .

For instance... remember the Cursed Abbey? As you stroll into it this war/horror-ish song picks up that just totally captures the essence of the location. That's what I can't find in . The music tries to be too... flashy, and in doing so kills the constructive purpose it exists to fill.

Oh well.

On the topic of Music, I too start getting the bug where two tracks play at the same time. A hell of a cacophony.

Assuming one of the tracts is the music from the main menu, you can work around this problem by renaming the '..\Beyond Divinity\Wav\music\beyond divinity.ogg' file.

IMHO the music is better than . It is more mature and... how should I put it... solid. I did not expect that I will like it so much. Thnx Kiril

I had the problem of two tracks playing twice at the same time. I changed levels and the "new" track started playing without stopping the "old" track. They just happened to be the same track which made it even more interesting!

I am not sure Raze, sounded both like in-game music. Anyway I wont bother doing much about it, it does not happen often and I just turn off the music when it does. It was just a heads up for the devs.

I liked most of the original music in better than too. The music in BD isn't bad at all, but it doesn't have as many unforgettable tracks as DD did, like the Dwarven Halls theme, the Elven Village theme, Scorching Wind, Verdistis, Dark Forest, Shame and Suffering, etc. . So far the only track that I have found which really has stuck in my head is the track that was the theme song in the demo.

Seriously the coolest thing in any game EVER was the dwarven halls ambitient audio.

The occasional huge, low bass rumblings shook my desk all over; it sounded so freakin sweet, like when you are standing in line for an indoor roller coaster.

I live by Cedar Point (yes, the Cedar Point), so I was referring to ol' Disaster Transport.
