Is there even a competition? DD was a fun, if formulaic, romp. BD tries too hard to "improve" things and, IMO, the end result is actually quite worse.

DD I have to say. There are many things I like about (Skill system is facinating) but even with the latest patch there are still spelling mistakes. Shields called 'round' and 'tournament' too.....
Yup, I played a bit more. Sad to say I have to changed my mind on the game.

Edit: I will finish it though. I really don't think its bad at all. (In 2 minds)
And yes, battlefield levelling is tedious.

To be honest, Ive only just started BD and Im just not "into" it as I was with DD at the beginning, but Ive been told it gets better so I will persevere. I think it's being stuck in the dungeon that annoys me, Ive just got the Battlefield key and although tedious I do find the change of sunshine lifting my spirits. I only got a lend of a copy of BD (a friend had it sent from overseas) as its not released in my part of the world until May 30 but I've put in an order of a copy at my local store. Many people would probably drop the game and Larian games in general if they find BD a struggle rather than a joy at the start, which is a shame, but that's people for you, fickle.

Absolutely without a doubt, definately, . It's the only game I've played where I lost weight, walked like a zombie due to lack of sleep, and hummed and whistled the music wherever I went. So yes wins hands down. Now if they made DD2 and implemented DD1 music, I would be so happy. Hey, a girl can dream.

At the moment, is still woefully unbalanced and somewhat buggy. I'm holding off making a decision between the two until Larian declares finished, with their final patch.

I have tried playing BD but it just doesnt catch me like DD did, now to be fair I personally consider DD a masterpiece so the fact that I consider it better should be no surprise. I think one thing that bugs me about BD is the fact that you cannot choose what class to make the DK or even give him armor....kinda makes him a second class character because you cannot develop and adorn him as you like. Ill probably get around to playing BD this summer when i have not net connection.

Both games are great and with 1.44 BD isn't that buggy (I completed it without any major problems). But after having finished both I'll have to agree with most of the other posters that DD simply had something extra that BD didn't have... so DD gets my vote too.

DD gets my vote too...

The wow factor that hit me when I finally left the DD healers village only to discover the absolutely massive world before me and all the things, people and places to see is sadly lacking in BD.

I just don't like the split acts in BD. They all appear too small to me, like mini versions of DD's whole, but with far less substance. I don't care about any of the characters or people I meet as I know they'll be gone or dead when I leave the act and basically...start again. Find another base of operations, find npcs, find places of interest...finish act, rinse and repeat!

How many games other than DD can boast that even when you're 50 hours of play into the game you can return to the very spot you began the game by hopping into the teleporter, or running there if ya wanted! You could constantly open new areas, and go back to the same npcs from ages before to find out something new or get a new quest.

If I never played DD I'd probably be enjoying BD more, I am enjoying it, but there's a small empty place in my heart that only DD could fill...
