Hi all! I've been reading in here for awhile now, but hadn't gotten the game yet so didn't have much to say! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Actually I'm having a couple of problems. First off, I installed the game, rebooted the comp, then installed the patch 1.45, again rebooted just to be sure. I checked my div.exe file for version and it still says version 1.0.0.0. Is this just a glitch, or should the version say 1.45 after patching? The patch log, text file is in the readme folder, it's just the div.exe that doesn't have any notation of change on it.

Second problem, I'm having the same kind of video problems I had in Divine Divinity - the slightly off colorations in darkened areas and at night time. Since the whole first act is in a dungeon, I'm having trouble with this - its as if the colors are flickering - and I don't mean the intentional flickering of the hot coals, etc, but greens and other colors and whole patches of graphics jumping about. This eventually changes - it's not stable at all but comes and goes.

I have NVidia FeForce Titanium 4400 with 128 ram and the latest driver (well I think it's the latest - 5664.

The game is still playable, I just wish it looked better - the flickering on and off of patches of green and blue are distracting and make it difficult to spot items even with the alt tab.

Thanks in advance for any help. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Hi, Judee, welcome back <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> (if you're Swiss Judee from the old Forum) - yes, my div exe says 1.000, too if I look at "properties".

Did you change the config values? Or did you change FSAA? Or did you skip the test?

Hi Kiya, yes that's me!

Thanks for the info on the 1.000 I guess it doesn't change.

I didn't change fsaa, but I tried removing fog to see if that helped. It seemed to tone down the flickering a bit- I'm running on 1026x768 resolution which is the same as my desktop - and my desktop is on 16 bit color (do you know what the games color res is?)

It may clear up - or not. It seems to come and go, will be okay for awhile, then I do something in inventory or whatever and when I come back to the play screen it's messed up again. Weird.

I can't remember what solved the prob in DD <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> maybe it was one of the patches, but I also remember putting something in the config file, but I can't remember what! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

I'm wondering if it'a a setting on my graphics card. AA is marked as application controlled, as well as Anisotropioc (?) filtering.

I imagine if I play with it a bit I may fall upon the right solution - it would just be easier if someone had a fix! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

Nice to see you again Kiya!

Judee, I'm sure, Raze can help you - he had this psychedelic drug trip, too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> - flickering colours in rainbow spectrum. I'll search the div part, maybe I can find something.

Dear everybody

If you have the Windows ME/Nvidia graphics card "splotch problem," which makes bizarre splotches of darkness and color appear indoors and at night, here's the best cure:

Turn on your PC and leave it on for 45 minutes.

That's it. Better even than putting "splotchproblem 1" in your config.lcl.

You can check your e-mail or whatever you want. Just make sure about 45 minutes goes by.

I read this suggestion on the previous forum and wanted to share it. It saved me a lot of headaches

Aha! So it's the old WinME/Nvidia splotch problem eh? One of these days I'm going to update to WinXP. Really. Had a similar problem with another game besides DD - and I remember it was always worse after a reboot of the pc. That may be my prob here too - I leave my pc on most of the day, but as it tends to accumulate programs running in the background, I usually reboot before gaming to refresh the system resources.

Lol, looks like something about that messes something up in this game. Go figure. I'll try that, and I'll try the code too if the other doesn't work.

I still wonder sometimes if there isn't a teeny tiny gremlin living somewhere in my comp.

Thanks for the help!

Heh - so they haven't been updating the internal version number of the .exe?? Tsk tsk <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well, as long as they keep patching, what's a few numbers here and there. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> I guess I'd rather have missing numbers on my .exe than missing numberx on my character stats, lol!

Oh and btw, I went back into the game after all the posting on here and reading other posts awhile - the timing was apparently right because the game graphics looked perfect! What a difference!

Now I'll know not to reboot just before playing!

Tho I still can't imagine WHY that is the case. Isn't there a comp geek, er, ahem, I mean a computer GENIUS out there (sorry for the typo) who can explaine why rebooting a system would cause graphic problems in a game?

I'm so curious about that since this is the third game it has happened on.
