I finally finshed, and frankly it was a chore to get there. I didn't really enjoy the game at all. Act 1 was poor and despite Message Board claims to the contrary all the subsequent acts were pretty much the same. So what do I get when I finish the thing.... A slideshow and damned narration of everything I'd just done <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/memad.gif" alt="" /> I just did all that stuff, I don't need to be told what happened. I really feel that this game was a quick (relative speaking) production to enable Larian to fund the true sequel which will no doubt have all the improvements and better game design. Alas the poor taste that Beyond has left in my mouth means I doubt I will be buying DD2.

I take it you never played Fallout?
(DATD likes Fallout, Fallout 2 and Arcanum endings).

I adore Fallout, which if you remember tells you what happened to the places you visited AFTER the story ended. "Shady Sands grew and prospered because you defeated the Raiders", "Family Wright wiped out the other families in New Reno" etc. Thats totally different to the end of BD.

Just a guess on my behalf - Div had an ending video sequence, which puzzled a lot of gamers. And believe me, there were countless threads asking for an interpretation. So, maybe the Larians decided this time to give a short summary for those not having all puzzle pieces in place?

Aha. I was just making sure I understood your post correctly.
A bit offtopic but did you ever happened to play Arcanum?

I thought the DD ending was pretty clear...except for the falling statue joke which ruined the dramtic effect! I actually felt it was little cliched, not in a really bad way, but if you have played enough games and read enough books you've seen that story many times before.

Yes I have sort of played Arcanum. I was really close to finishing it. I was at the mage citadel in the vendringoth wastes but I was just sick of it so I couldn't bring my self to carry on, plus I needed the HD space. It was such a chore to mess around with the teleport pads. Arcanum is a good example of a nice idea that was stretched too long. I wanted it to end so I could start again as a new style of character but it just kept on going and going and going!

I see what you mean. I sometimes had the same feeling yet most RPGs are sometimes repetitive for me so I had no trouble with Arcanum.
