EDIT - Kiya, The thread did ask for bugs "encountered". Though some have been fixed now, they caused me enough grief in my game for me to remember them -

I know about your grief, Ben - yours were one of the very posts I read in the English forum after release - and I felt very sorry, but had no opportunity at that time to compare the EV and GV.
As for the Kiya bug => I never had it myself. I did have a severe game stopper, cause she didn't appear in 1.0 and we Germans all had to wait for the patch, there was no workaround. Same for invincible Samuel, due to a resistance bug.
"Encountered" => I took it differently as you might have read - existing ones <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />, that's why I shot up the tree <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

I gather from your other posts that you have a very cautious old school approach to RPGS.

True, because I come from the adventure game side, and linearity is normal there, even nowadays. I agree, standards have moved - I wish, I had programming knowledge to see why one approach works and another doesn't. I see limits as a sort of boundary I accept and try to creep into the story writer's brain to find out, how a quest "should" be solved. Guess, this is adventure approach, hm? I accept fully, you wish freedom - and I still have my approach, because I consider RPG as a sort of adventure game (as this genre is nearly dead)

Forgiving...? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> I have to like a game and want to complete it, then this word is correct. If I don't particularly like a game, I simply uninstall it.

"Larians dropped the ball" => I'm not sure, if I understand this phrase correctly (gave up?). I see BD as a game, where they tried to go new ways, away from Div (skill system, linearity, 2 chars) and I looked at it freely, without expectations (as I do with every game). The patch fiasko 1.40-1.42 and 1.43 concerning the BF was an error. And I see their effort to fix this sincerely - more than I can say from other companies, whose games I loved to buy, that's all. I respect sincerity.
Kiya

Oh yeah, add to the list the duplicating protection gems bug => fixed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Fact: Everyone who played the initial release of the game encountered bugs.

Fact: Larian put out patches faster than any company I can recall and is doing a damn good job

Fact: The game is immensely fun and fully playable

Fact: Endless griping does nothing for anyone except cause turmoil among friends

Fact: This thread is going nowhere fast, and is nothing more than a bitch-fest - just look at the topic for god sake

Jeesh my friends, is this the type of memory we want to build from out time together in the Forum? Anyone remember the Monty Python song "Look on the bright side of life"? If so could ya sing a couple of verses please.

To Kiya. Sorry. 'Dropped the Ball' means made a mistake...like a goalkeeper in football! Since I feel that BD doesn't match the standards of DD I believe they made a mistake in releasing it when they did. Of course it might not have been their choice as the publishers could have pushed them to release early.

To Grim. Larian are to be congratulated for the effort and hours they put into fixing the bugs. Not many other teams would be working until midnight after the release date. But allow me to be overly melodramatic and state that the bugs still happened and they shouldn't be forgotten!!
EDIT - Your third point is technically Opinion and not Fact. Your fourth point, well I quite like griping, it gets it off my chest and I feel all the better for it. Nothing like a good whinge <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />

Always look on the bright side of life..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

la la la la la la la lala.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" />

speculation dear watson, merely speculation.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

[Continuous and profound contemplation
or musing on a subject or series of subjects
of a deep or abstruse nature]

the bugs should so be forgotten, especially if they don't exist any more....

third point is fact! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

fourth point nobody likes a whiner that won't stop whining! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
but that may be just my opinion, but then again I could be wrong! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

@Ben => thanks for explaining your phrase. I wish, the Larians would have released the game later - putting financial and law reasons aside (no knowledge about publishers and their conditions). About standards => DD was buggy upon release, if you remember - and turned out very nice after all patches erased major bugs.

I don't know, if you read all posts since release, but gamer pressure was very high and demanding in some cases - so, Larians decided to release patches very quickly. As the waters have calmed down a bit, I hope, further patches will concentrate on bug-fixing and not on tweaks. And I have to agree with Grim and Jurak => if a bug is fixed, "whining" is pointless, even if it has left bruises on your gamer memory. Why? Because Larian efforts are "drowned" and leave an impression, most bugs have not been solved already - but remain as unsolved and add to a distrust => bug or something a gamer missed? Recent example is a post about the wrong diamond ring in Act 4 ([color:"yellow"] edit: now I'm insecure about this post, hoping to have a look into this save[/color] - never encountered this in EV or GV myself). It is difficult to help then, Ben. No, I'm talking about faking a game "nice". But I wish for more fairness and an open approach towards the game.

I have no probs with someone preferring Div to BD - matter of taste. But memory is a strange thing => I know of many bug posts on the old forum concerning Div - and now it's glorified and BD is in its shadow. This does not match my opinion => taking every game as unique. And here I have the same result as you => leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Even if you feel relieved <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
Kiya

As for the Div standard => EV 1.29 was buggy and it took one year until 1.34 erased most bugs (3 skills still broken and MTT quest is still not perfect) - BD is on the English market since 2nd May => please, keep relations in mind.

I had my DK character stuck in the wall yesterday. i use patch 1.45 location: map 2 by the switches near the tooth quest.

also i found a chest that when it was closed was 300 weight end when open zero weight.

also the ghost in the first map are very hard to kill if you play as a mage becouse thier high elementel risistence. (i even had to do a lot of quick saves to finnaly kill them. this is no bug but a bit unbalanced. i hadn't that much trouble with my 2 warriors combination however if the ghost attacks the DK he's down in tree hits

Kiya. I can't really remember too many bugs from DD. Maybe I was lucky or more likely I picked it up a few weeks after release.
