Well, instead of waiting for tech support to get back to me, I took it upon myself to borrow a laptop and played out and finished

Some thoughts for the next version (what I called "The Reckoning").

Spell Effects - There needs to be some way of knowing what spell is affecting the characters. When my characters walked through a green mist (some area spell cast by an enemy) I lost quite a bit of strength, making my armor, weapons, etc useless. Everquest has icons that stack along the top of the screen (well they used to, now it's a floating window that you can move anywhere) that shows buff spells, enemy cast negative spells, etc.

Item Acquired - My character had an incredible amount of items in his inventory. When I "acquired an item".. I had NO IDEA what it was!

Looting
 • "Take All" button?
 • Encumbered. Please explain your system to me before I rant about how it's broken. 1200/2345 doesn't look like I'm encumbered. And for some reason, removing an identical item, wouldn't remove the encumberance!
 • "Gather All" button? A command for the character to gather all items laying around a certain vicinity?

Moving Items - The "move item" feature is annoying, because any number of times I tried to pick up loot, the game assumed I was trying to MOVE it, not PICK IT UP. Pretty aggrivating. Perhaps SHIFT+LCLICK would make more sense?

Enemy A.I. - I appreciate the whole "attack, flee, attack" approach for certain enemies (Shadow Creature, Skeleton Mage, etc). But come on. I spent time chasing them across an entire map before catching them. It's hard to understand the A.I. doing that.. while the A.I. doesn't tell the creatures to flee when they reach 10% health. They keep fighting.. and I never see them drink any potions.. although there were some that were healing themselves, but by that time... DEATH BLOW! and they expired.

General Comments - Overall, great experience. I was a little leary of the major changes in the architecture of the game. It's a tad frustrating that now.. I have to stumble across trainers to get the skills to even put points into my character!

Inventory system.. gah, I appreciate being able to carry anything, but man, what a mess. ORGANIZE BUTTON. PLEASE! I'm sure the method you've adopted allows us to put anything into inventory, but it's just difficult to deal with.

Spoiler : Funny, but my wizard wasn't really a wizard until the final act. He was more a ranger than anything (plinking away with a bow). The wizard/shaman trainers were far and few inbetween. I think in Act 2 or 3 I finally got spikes and then I found the hammer? spell.

I took out the end boss with level 4 hammer. Over and over til he... walked off and told me there's another game coming with him in it.

Hi, Akhilles!

[color:"orange"]Spell Effects
Item Acquired

Yes, they both would be appreciated.

[color:"orange"]Looting

I don't agree with the Take All or Gather All buttons. Too much automation makes the game boring. But that's my opinion.

Encumberance is your absolute maximum load. You cannot carry more than this number in weight. At 75%, you become encumbered.

[color:"orange"]Moving Items

I found this is mostly a rushing thing. If you click the item and the mouse moves so much as a pixel, it tries to move the item. Perhaps just a movement threshold is needed?

[color:"orange"]Enemy A.I.

I thought the Mage Skeletons were troublesome and boring too. Do they even have a stamina limit?

I guess I'm used to games that show your weight in a different color when you're approaching encumberance. And when you are encumbered, it's at 100% (2300/2300). It just doesn't make sense for me to see 1200/2300 and I'm encumbered? I have a sword.. a shield.. oh darn.. I don't carry a calculator!

Perhaps. But I like a seperating of commands, but perhaps it's just something that needs to be tuned.

"Take All" in chests? Why not. It could sure save some useless clicking.
"Take All" arround? I'd rather have the enemies have their inventories: instead of picking up a dropped item, you click on the enemy to bring up his inventory which should contain all the items he is supposed to carry.
If a skeleton carries an axe, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to pick it from the corpse after the battle.

I won't start a new thread for my humble suggestions so I'll add them now.

I'd want to see cloaks in Divinity 2. I suggested it for BD but it wasn't possible.
I would like to have a two-weapon-fighting skill. Sword and dagger, for example.
I doubt it's too difficult to program yet it makes the game more interesting.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic had a "take all" button, and the game was better because of it. I did not miss dragging the pistol and the health pack into my inventory separately.

I fully agree with you DATD, two-weapon fighting skills have somehow fallen into oblivion (too bad)

I am still wondering why you may only use two rings when there are 10 fingers in both hads (I don´t think magic rings are that jealous about being carried in the same hand huh?)

Cheers,

Angel

Might and Magic allowed you 10 rings. Now this is impossible: ever tried carrying a ring on every finger (including thumb)? Not only it hurts like hell when you try to swing a sword but it also looks weird. In addition, think of all the balancing needed to be done...

Might and Magic allowed you 10 rings. 1 on every finger.

When the game was in beta stage,
The developers had designed a place for an 11th ring for male characters only..
Bud that idea was abandoned very quickly

Okay, Planescape allowed you to cover your body in tatoos and metal .

Actually, according to D&D, they are jealous! Having magical sources so close to each other causes interference and negates their power. And besides, 10 rings would make the game too easy.

I can tell you from personal experience that it is possible to be a thoroughly competent archer while wearing three rings. I can't tell you if it's possible to be a competent fencer with rings on because frankly I was terrible at it either way. :hihi:

Actually in the middle ages, there were special archers rings you wear on your index finger of the hand you hold the bow with.
