I did all the Henchmans quest in the OC, i waited to near the end of the chapter , by then i had probably collected everything the Henchie's wanted and had levelled up enough to just keep them talking and then hand over what ever thing they required, i then got some good equipment for their gratitude, and of coarse some handy XP to boot.
.
As i am starting SoU i see i can start off with my Character from the OC, but he is mighty strong!! would this spoil the game??
.
Classes like RDD are available but not selctable at the start of SoU,when are they available to be selected??

It would behoove you to stay a single class character in SoU.
You can get away with one maybe two levels multi'd, but you are asking for a mega challenging game if you do more than that.

In your manual it should tell you the specs required for the RDD class.
However, most (but not all) wait until after they reach higher levels to start on the RDD class.

Remember, 3 levels of one class and 3 levels of another show you as a level six character, but you are really only 2 third level characters. Multi'ing a character doesn't really start to shine until somewhere around 12th level and up. At least that has been the case with me. I'm sure others will feel otherwise.

For me I've found (if you meet the manuals character requirements) that going 7 levels of one class...take a level of another...then a few more of the original class...etc...spacing them out like that helps me survive the best.

Take heed, SoU is a lot harder than the NWN-OC (NWN Original Campaign).
And is a lot more satisfying play wise.

Good luck and may Tyr guide your ways.

You have to meet the requirements for the RDD prestiege class. In this case the RDD requires 8 points in the 'lore' skill and at least 1 level of sorcerer or bard. After this you'll be fully multi-classed so you can take no more class options.

Other prestiege classes have different requirements. The champion of Torm would be another good one for a pally. Check the manual or you can find a really, really good, comprehensive PDF file here:

Neverwinter Grimiore

Scroll down the page to download the file of the same name....

Egin, this should help with your character builds too.

Also grab yourself the "Epic Character Table 2" found here:
Epic Character Table 2

It will help you to know when you get your next Feat selection.

yes you would utterly spoil the flavor of sou if you carry over your char from the oc. sou is designed for new characters. it's more fun that way. furthermore, i strongly suggest you pick a warrior-type char in your first run through sou. it's a fighter-type game. battles are tough, physical battles, and you need all the hp's you can get.

i don't know how rogues & caster-type chars can survive sou. there are no good tank henchmen.

btw, be prepared to meet one of the funniest henchmen you'll ever see. alas, be prepared also to meet one of the worst & annoying henchmen, a sorc who, despite the fact that i've already commanded him to level up as a barb, still insists on casting his cantrips spells on enemies.

lucky knucky have funny!

I had an easier time beating SoU with a Pure Druid than when I played a Paladin.

I'd say why and you all would laugh, but I don't want to spoil the game for spick.

But I am curious if anyone did what I did in the first chapter.

no, no, no pls don't say that kyra. the easiest char to play sou is a pally. and it's all because of one thing: the holy avenger. once you get hold of that weapon, sou will be a cakewalk. god, that weapon is terribly overpowering.

if you want to go unconventional, make a fighter (4)/pally (x), take all the dual-wield feats, wield the holy avenger in your main hand and another powerful weapon whose name escapes me at the moment in your off-hand, take weapon specialization in long swords. bammm!!! bye-bye evil monsters. iirc, the holy avenger does extra dmg to evil creatures. dorna was there only for conversation purposes. a fighter/pally wielding a holy avenger sword is a madman.

of course, just like in baldur's gate ii, you'll have to get past a very tough opponent to get hold of the avenger sword. but that's what makes it more special. the most rewarding things in life are those you have to work hard to get.

Shoot, that Holy Avenger, I think getting past that baddie was one of the few times that something in the NWN series of games was HARDER than that in BGII.
In fact, I think that was the ONLY time something was harder in the NWN series of games than that in BGII.

I must have died a hundred million times fighting that baddie in SoU.

I still had an easier time with my Druid.

Final thought, if RPG'rs out there like a total game challenge, play just the ToB part of BGII.
That is by far the hardest battles I have ever had in any RPG game ever.

bg 2 is tough and it's because the magic system there is terribly skewed in favor of enemy mages that it's borderline cheating already. in addition to that, the armor class system is severely lacking in the baldur's gate and icewind dale series. it's the main reason why i never did finish throne of bhaal.

anyway back to sou. i completely agree with you, getting to the holy avenger is very, very tough and that it's one of the hardest battles in the nwn series. my pally had barely a sliver of life left when he finally defeated that boss. another very tough fight in the nwn series is against a draco-lich in hotu. now that is even tougher. it's chaotic, it's frenetic, but it's fun and definitely beatable.

spoiler:

one of the main reasons why i'm suggesting a pally to dual-wield is that in the last chap of sou, as well as in chap. 2, most of the tough monsters you'll fight are undead. remember the hordes of undead in chap 3 where you have to get one of the artifacts? now if you wield the holy avenger in one hand and the weapon you get in chap 2 that does extra dmg vs. undead on the other hand, then it will all be very easy.

that badass, super tough blackguard w/ his dangerous sneak attacks went down in a few rounds to my pally.

btw, if acquiring the holy avenger is difficult in sou, it's extremely more difficult in icewind dale ii. you have to fight not one, but six very tough opponents, only to find out that the holy avenger there is not that great. my pally just wielded a 2-handed weapon (axe, halberd, or greatsword). two-hand weapons work great in icewind dale ii because armor rating there just isn't worth it; no use equipping a shield.

I took him out in less than 30 seconds with my Animal Companion and 3 call Lightning spells.
Those Call Lightning spells also took out the skellies too.

I've fought him with a Rogue, Fighter, Paladin, Sorcerer, and finally a Druid.

The Druid took him out the quickest and easiest.

My Rogue came in second.
You've gotta love those Average Electrical Traps.

My Sorcerer came in second with my Pixie familiar practically taking him out on her own with her sneak attacks!

After that my Fighter and Paladin pretty much came in last.
They had the hardest time with him.

Please, I need good advise for my wizard.
I think until now, I was creating very powerful pure spellcaster with some bonus to archery.

Now I have leveled again and have to decide where to put skill point.

Here are my stats:

Str Dex Con Int Wis Cha
8 13 14 18 10 8

First thing I am thinking about is to put more into int. But is there any sence in doing this? Will this get bonuses?
Or should I put more into dex? Or is it enough?

Ohh, please help I am stuck. All those strategy guides write about character creation, but how to develop him at later stages is unknown.

Take your DEX to 14. You'll get another +1 to hit with ranged and +1 AC. After that pour the rest of your points into INT. The bonuses keep coming. Better spell DC, more skillpoints. You may want to consider a multiclass to a rogue too. Use magic device and Tumble are excellent skills.

Thank you Womble, your help is invaluable. Donno about multiclass, but I will definitely put 1 more in dex and look after magic devise and that Tumble.

Point is, you need at least 1 level of rogue to place points in use magic device. So save some points up to dump in and maximise it at a higher level. Tumble can be taken as a cross-class skill but is so much better if you max it out. (+1 AC every five levels plus the chance to run away from combat and not get hit)

Short note on use magic device: this will let you wear all the cool monk robes, boots and should you desire, gloves. It will let you use cleric-only healing staves, scrolls and so on. Its pretty neat.

Also rogue 4/wiz 16 (BAB=11) will give you 3 attacks per round whereas a pure wiz (BAB=10) will only get 2.

Is there a difference when to multiclass, I mean should I first gain 16 lvls in wizardy and only then switch to rogue?
And if I multiclass does it mean that I will be a weaker mage, missing some of top lvl spells?

Ho-ho Womb, I recognize your face now, you are Ulfnog

Egin: you can take the first 16 lvls in wiz if you like. Just save your skillpoints to dump into use magic device and tumble. You'll get to 9th lvl spells at lvl 17 wiz. That'll be lvl 21 if you take 4 rogue lvls too. I find it makes little difference in the NWN official campaign where you'll just get to lvl 17 by the end anyway. Mixing in a rogue lvl at lvl 9-10 will grant you the monk robes of the dark moon,(use magic device) which give a permanentt haste effect and are purchasable from chapter 2 onward. They have a very good effect on a mage and will definately keep you alive longer.

If you have HotU then you can export this char into the campaign there to experience the full power of a high level wizard. Just add the remaining 3 rogue lvls after lvl 17

From my personal experiences, this kicks bum-hole.
