Well I just checked, and what I meant was the Arcane University. I'm not in the mages' guild and I can get in the arch mage's lobby. From there you just need to go up to get to the arch mage's private quarters and steal his staff.

And be quick about it because he follows you up there.

unless he is asleep. But still it is very usefull to be in the mages guild(spell creation/enchanting)

and about spell creation: its stupid you can only set the magnitude to 100, cause if i make a destruction spell, i need to select magnitude 100 for 5 seconds instead of making a spell wich immediatly deals 500 damage.

EDIT: i checked on tessource.net and there is an english version available, and it has even more pets than the german edition.

how do i get up there once im in the lobby?

there is a kind of portal/teleporter. its a circle on the floor wich you need to activate. i would first use a chameleon spell/item and if you got a good chameleon spell, you can do it during the day, otherwise, wait till most of the people in the lobby have been gone.

EDIT: i'm reading something about the new Nvidia Geforce 7900
and i wonder if my current card uses the same slot as the 7900, wich is a PCI. is this the standard slottype?
if you check the settings on the Nvidia-site it looks like this is a nearly perfect graphics card, but is Radeon better? i know this is all a little <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />

A GPU ist the same thing on graphic cards.

That's the most basic explanation.

PCI Express is becoming the standard for video cards, especially for high end cards or SLI / Crossfire configurations. Single cards are not really pushing the limits of the previous AGP interface, but if you have the choice it would be better to go with PCI-E. The regular PCI interface has not been standard for video cards for years, though you can still find some around.
How old is your computer? If you can not find the specs on your video card, your motherboard manual will list what type of slots it has.

GPU = graphics processing unit = graphics card
Technically the GPU is the main component of the graphics card (or on-board video), as Alrik described, but the terms are often used interchangeably.

my pc (well it's not mine, but it's the one i use) is maximum a year, i think something around 8 months.

and yes i know what cpu is (computer processing unit, right?)

EDIT: my current card is using a PCI-slot so i got PCI-slots, wich brings me to another question, can you use your graphic card in combination with the new graphic card/gpu, and does this has and (dis)advantages?

If your computer is like a year old, you're most likelly useing the AGP-port for your graphic card. If it isn't something's wrong <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />, and the most likelly is that you're not talking about PCI, but about PCI Express <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> (now is when you go check that out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />).

in unrelated news my amd dual core processor which runs at 2000mhz i over clocked it at 2355mhz from 41 c normal load and 50-51 c heavy load

too bad nwn needs 2400 cause i think most games might want that as well

Vigro, if you have a Dual-Core AMD processor it probablly works as though it has 4500 mhz (depending on what processor you have), so that shouldn't be a problem <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />. What is it called?

Aha, even if the speed seems to be only 2000mhz, this CPU actually is a lot faster than that. The 3800+ is to let you know that it is equivalent to 3800mhz. You should have no problem with NWN 2.

Exactlly. AMD's processors is named after the Pentium processors. An AMD 3800+ works just as fast or faster than an Pentium 3800 mHz processor <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />. This has to do with Intel haveing longer pipelines than AMD, which means it takes longer time for a Pentium processor to preform (or acually decode, which is pretty much the same thing) an instruction, and therefore AMD works faster than Intel's processors on the same clockfrequence, and from there AMD's nameing come.

Rage/frenzy sometimes works well to get multiple opponents to kill one another off, but sometimes not. For some comic relief you can enrage random NPCs in a town and get some Keystone cops action going.


I made a pure mage, heavy in illusion. In the arena the only strategy I can make work is to conjure a creature--which the opponent ignores and then turn invisible. It is cheesy and has made me stop playing the mage as the Arena is my favorite place.

yeah i noticed if you piss someone off they will chase you a fairly long ways.....its nice for a change to have the town guards actually help you when your in need
