Will there be a monthly fee to play the game?
Yes. After the end of the free month included with the game, you will need a subscription in order to continue playing the game. You have three options, as you will see when you create your account: a month-to-month package at $14.99 per month, a three-month plan at $13.99 per month, or a six-month plan at $12.99 per month. You can also substitute game cards, sold at major game retailers, for the monthly subscription.

It is worth it if you spend a lot of time withe the game which is excellent. And--I was going to build a new computer this year, but now I won't need to because WoW runs just fine on my 2 year old laptop. Even if I have a couple of other apps running it does fine.

I mean for instance--every time I go to a movie that is $15.00 FOR 2 tickets. And what does Netflix cost--abiut the same as WoW per month.

Pay all this money just to play online? No way, i don't think so. Better to play tcp/ip game. Except for the requirements for the server i believe what must be very high for more than 3 or 4 persons.

I agree with Shyon.
The only MMO I am willing to play is Guild Wars. It has free online play and several unique functions which is why I preordered it.

What I don’t understand is, how is it that so many people out there are born with a silver spoon in their mouth that can afford something like this?

I’d have to work an extra job to afford something like this.

Right.
DATD are there any rumors on when GW it planned for release?

Late February or early Mars.

I think the fact whether you can afford it or not depends on your way of life: I mean if you go to the movies two times per month you can buy WoW instead.
Me, for example, I find going to the movies to be a waste of time and money even if it's only 7$.

I guess that makes sense.
I only go to the theatre maybe once every 3 to 4 months, but your point is solid.

Good eye and good call.

Paying $14.99 per month - 2 months = $30 - new game to your collection.

I am curious about this game, and thinking of buying it, but I want to know a few more things.
Like: how does the skill system work?
What about the jobs?/professions?
Are you able to team up, like in diablo 2? and do quests together?
Is there something like a friends list? so you can easily check if your friends are online?

I hope someone can help me with this, and give me some more intel

I think it looks cool too, but a problem. Right now you can't even buy it in the states--> they sold too many copies. You also have about a 30 minute wait before you can log on because of a 500 person que to get in it. Doesn't sound too good.

"I am curious about this game, and thinking of buying it, but I want to know a few more things.

You buy skills from a trainer every 2 levels. Theere are also skills you get on quests. Every level after lvl 10 you get one talent point--similar to skills, sort of.

"What about the jobs?/professions?"
Various--broadly divided into either gathering or production. Some simple--like herbalism, some really involved like smithing. Used to get goods your toon needs or to make money.

"Are you able to team up, like in diablo 2? and do quests together?"
Yes

"Is there something like a friends list? so you can easily check if your friends are online?"
Yes. Also guilds.

I like it. I spend many hours playing. Let me know if you buy it and I will quest with you.

Only on certain servers. Solution--keep toons on more than 1 server, or pick a low population server. There are many.

I'm going to read pc gamer's review next month or whenever and compare it to wow's review, and look at them. I just worry about the cost per month, I like the idea of a one time pay thing. It will probably go down to how many people I know playing each.

thanks cleglaw, for the answers.
I will have to wait untill 11 feb, before I can buy it, because it hasn't been released here yet.

Ok, some more questions about the skills if you don't mind; Like, what kind of skills can I expect? skills like in diablo, like multiple show (to name something)?
Or really just mining skills for instance?
And do you earn something like skillpoints/statpoints while you level up?

And do you earn something like skillpoints/statpoints while you level up?

Stat points such as strength and agility are assigned automatically when you level up. Skills are purchased every two levels from a class trainer, such as a priest trainer, warrior trainer, etc. The skills represent new abilities or improvement of old abilities consistent with the nature of your character. For instance, a priest can purchase healing skills and/or shadow damage skills.

After level 10 you receive one talent point each time you level up. These talent points can be selected from one of three different trees which each class has. For example, the priest has a discipline tree, a holy tree, and shadow tree. Careful selection of talents makes for customization of a character.

Professions skills such as mining or smithing are purchased from a profession trainer. The skills are leveled up by using them. The more ore that you mine, for example, the higher your skill level in mining.

I might add that there is also an auction house, and I know of a few players who have characters whose sole purpose is to buy and sell in auctions in order to make money.

There is a nice mail system. One character can send messages or items by mail to another. This provides an easy way of muling, bartering, and also allowing communication with friends who may not necessarily be online at the same time as you.
