Ask as many as you want.
I play with one guy who told me he was Vietnamese. Then I found out that he lives in Texas like me.

ok, one other important question, the paying a month; do you think it's worth it? the game is good and addicting enough?

Yes

Of course that is a personal decision. I play a lot and it is worth it to me.

if I decide to buy the game, are you willing to try to create a (small) guild with me?
Or are you allready in one? or do you hate them?

And are there many, let's say, irritating people online, who type in an almost impossible to understand language?

Currently I just play on Terenas and I am in a small guild composed of folks who are members of forum that dates back to D1. I am a new member though I have lurked there on and off for years. When nobody in the guild around my level is online then I solo and do pickup groups as it suits me--there are some quests that are hard/impossible to solo. When u start I'll be happy to start a new toon and quest with you whether you are in the guild or not. I will also help twink your toon if you so desire. Or you might like to just solo for awhile to get the feel of it--whatever suits you.

Most of the people I have encountered have been nice. In the general chat there are some people who are easy to ignore. The general chat is in a pale pink font, and guild or party chat are in distinctly different color fonts so it is easy to selectively attend to chat. I have only partied with one person I won't party with again and he didn't type in an almost impossible to understand language--After inviting me, he didn't type at all and went off by himself.

One thing that I had trouble with was the large number of skills, targeting options and chat I needed and the hot keys simply were not up to it. On the advice of guildmates I downloaded a UI that added more toolbars and made life a lot easier.

ehh whats a UI?
And are there really that many skills you can master? sounds nice

And what do you mean with many targeting options?
And could you tell me something about how the fighting system works?

Yes--lots of skills, besides the ones you train, additional abilities also can be gained from items or potions.

--Targeting options--
Take the example of a buff or a healing spell. You might want to target yourself, any of up to 4 party members, or their pets (hunters and warlocks have pets.)
Or you might need a damage spell, which has to target a specific mob (monster} and not another. When all pandemonium is breaking loose in a big fight, the ability to quickly and correctly select the target of a spell or ability makes a big difference.

And there are voice macros that can be helpful which tell your party you are under attack, out of mana, etc.

Melee fighting--right click or hot key to hit. Use special abilities as needed and possible.

Sounds easy and it is, but there are often various options available, and there is no such thing as a "dumb tank."

Casting--select target and spell.

You can also dance or flirt with players, give them a raspberry, cheer for them, etc.

Did I answer your question?

Uff Cleglaw, I feel a bit envy
Your words as you describe remind me of many days I have spent in DAOC. It was fun.

jvb, I think you should try it. It will be unforgetable experience. You will meet new friends there. And as for those dumb/insulting morons, they are always there, but you can always switch ignore mode on so don't worry about them. There were very very few such people in DAOC - but thats mainly because insilting person could easily be banned by admins, hope the same works in WoW.

Guess what my friend made me download . (That's the WoW final BETA btw...)

So now I need some starter tips. Hopefully it will be home tomorrow.

Übereil (wondering if he shall forget to turn the computer off tonight...)

If you have any specific questions ask me. Basically just pick a character that interests you and jump in. The first 5 levels or so are very easy. Watch your back--enemies do respawn. Avoid taking on more than one at a time.

I'm pretty shure I will buy the game, but I'm going to continue asking questions

Could you tell me something about the pvp system?
I have checked their site, but I don't totally understand it.
Are the battlegrounds in the game, or still in devellopment? (second case: when are they planned to be implemented?)
And if you find an enemy player, you can't attack him immediatly or something, but you have to challenge him?
Is that correct?
Have you ever had a pvp duel?

I haven't done PVP. On the PVE server:
1. you can challenge a friendly player to a friendly duel--even somebody in your party. I have done that twice and won one, lost one.
2. If the opposing faction (Alliance if you are playing Horde) shows up in your home territory you can attack them without warning, but they cannot attack you unless you are hostile first.

There are 3 types of servers--PVP, PVE and RP.

yeah, I read about the 3 servers, but what exactly is the big difference between them?

RP is for folks who want to role play.
PVE is for folks who don't want to have todeal with PK.
PVP includes PK by default.

pk by default? So players can attack opposing factions on sight? with no need to be in enemy territory?

And do you know when battleground will be implemented?
Have you had many updates allready?

I'm sorry I'm asking so much, but I'm very gratefull that you are so patient and helpfull

and for how long have you been playing at the moment?
And is it easy to get to lvl 60?
Are their still things to do afterwards?

Not from me but I heard from people who played hardcore ( 40 or 50 hours I week ) that it took them about 2 or 3 weeks to get to around the 50 range, and another week to get to 60. Not from me though.

I play daily. Started in December. I played several classes to varying levels as high as lvl 18. Then for various reasons I would start a new character. I have finally decided to focus on an undead priest and will take her higher. So I can't tell you what it is like at lvl 60. The speed or ease with which you level depends on a number of factors. I'll say more later--got to run right now.

HAve just been looking at different classes, and was thinking of a dwarven hunter (with guns...). Any tips?

Only 9-18 hours left now (and the dl speed couldn't be more instable, it varies between 10 and 170 KB/s).
