[color:"pink"] With pal keep in mind that you will not have any long range ability
Ohh yes, I need someone to pull them. Druid then? hmm.
[color:"pink"] - being alone even on a low population server will not be your problem. a) low is relative, and b) there'll be a few 10.000 newbies this weekend
hmm, that's good. Yeah, today is kind of second release date for Europe, right? Or at least for eastern part of it.
[color:"pink"] I can't judge modem (I am on a DSL-flat), but I gave my PC an extra 512 MB RAM to make it 1.024 MB => and that made a big difference.
Hmm, I will look how laggy it will get and if I need any additional RAM (I have 512 also)
[color:"pink"] I would not mind starting on an English speaking realm, but I prefer to play with voice chat support
I have played with TeamSpeak once, it was cool. I will have to buy microphone though. Ok, I will let you know when I am ready to go over voice comm.

I have a teamspeak client, though someone else always hosted the server functionality - don't know whether that's helpful (I'm a dpu (dumbest possible user) in that respect)

What professions did you teach your druid?

Fishing and hunting is good for hunters, because of the constant need to feed your pet (choose wisely! Except for bears, not all eat everything!)
Plus - any character that cannot heal himself with spells, should learn 1st aid.
And!
Take the time to develop your professions early. The ingredients required get higher classed, as you progress. If you wait too long, you may find yourself in areas where the lower class ingredients cannot be found (That is what happened with my druid - by the time I got around to developping my alchemy skill, I needed herbs only found in the starting region)

I noticed from my WOW experience that paladins (alliance) and shamans (horde) with their fighting/magic combination have the best chances of survival. I remember quite some times when my character died (Tauren hunter, Level 44 by now) in battle while one of them -being a couple of levels under mine- survived a similar challenge. I pushed my Alchemy and First Aid very much up, but it is still not as effective as healing abilities.

Ohh, I really couldn't figure that out on lvl 10.
Ok, my druid has healing, so he doesn't need first aid. He has not pets so he don't need food, so skinning and leatherworking is ok
As for troll, fishing and cooking is great choice for him as he will have pets. But he also needs first aid? But as he probably will be ranged (with throwing weapons) he will not need healing much. Does it have sense?

Indeed, Alrik, the Game Masters are very strict on this grammar dedicated server. Three typing errors and you get banned...

[color:"orange"]But as he probably will be ranged (with throwing weapons) he will not need healing much. Does it have sense? No - 1. There are enemies with ranged attacks; 2. more often than you care you will get in melée situations - so do not forget to treat your close combat skills

OMG, but, how can I be good in both ranged and melee at the same time or will I be mediocre at both ? I will have pet for melee, right ? So, then, ranged hunter is a myth? Mostly I see melee rangers. And then, what profession to choose? Fish+cooking to feed the pet or first aid+ something else to stay alive???

Professions 1. Secondary Professions There are 3 Secondary Professions. Any class can train in all 3 as well as 2 primary professions.
a. 1st aid This gives you healing abilities which is good. Even some priests, the prime healers, train 1st aid as a way to conserve mana. There are 2 downsides to 1st aid, both of which are related to the consumption of cloth. If you are a tailor you need the cloth which would otherwise be consumed in 1st aid. Also, cloth sells well at the auction house and is a great money maker.
b. Fishing Unnecessary imo. It takes up too much time. One friend did report though that he fished up some nice items.
c. Cooking The primary benefit of cooking imo is that many recipes will buff your stamina and spirit after they are consumed. The only downside is that you have to grind a lot of critters to get the raw materials, and that takes time. However, unlike fishing, you will gain experience when you kill critters.
Hunters do not have to train fishing or cooking. Pets will eat raw meat taken from critters.
Mages can conjure their own food.
2. Primary Professions You are permitted two. They fall broadly into the categories of gathering or production.
a. Gathering These professions can either make you money or provide the raw materials needed for production profesions. If making money is your goal, I suggest the combo of skinning and mining.
b. Production Production is a big time money sink. Especially enchanting.
Leatherworking and Tailoring--make nice clothes. Some better than monster drops, many not. Skinning is helpful for Tailoring and necessary for Leatherworking.
Engineering--make bombs and gizmos almost all of which are useable only by engineers and therefore not salable. Paladins who learn Engineering get their only possible ranged pull. Take mining.
Blacksmith--make armor and weapons. Take mining with it.
Classes--my opinions
Paladins--boring. Slow killers.
Warriors--The tanks in a party. As such they play a primary role and have great responsibility. Their whole group will die if they handle pulls or aggro badly. No self healing. smithing/mining or herb/alchemy. Slow killers as a rule.
Rogue--Stealth, good solo play, high dps (damage per second) in low demand for high end groups.
Shaman--jack of all trades and master of none. Very interesting class to play with multiple possibilities.
Druid--haven't played one
Hunter--good solo play, high dps, deserve more respect than they get.
Mage--My current favorite, good solo play, high dps (damage per second) in high demand for all groups. Top notch crowd control. Tailor/skinner or herb/alchemy or miner/skinner for cash. Mages get to teleport to any of the main cities instantly making them the fastest travellers from one continent to another.
Warlock--very cool with multiple possibilities for play style.
Priest-- in high demand for all groups. If your group is composed of good players it is a very satisfying exciting class. You have to be aware of everything going on all the time. If you have poor players in the party, it can be a frustrating experience. People will die and often blame it on you when it is their own poor play at fault. They tend to level slowly at solo play.
servers High pop queues to login at peak times, lag in the big cities, stability issues, easy to find groups to quest or run instances
Medium pop no login queues, minimal to no lag, no stability isues, at times hard to find groups to party.
The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer? ~Jeremy Bentham

very true but trouble with priest (especially with Undead priests) is also that's it's really difficult to level up between lvls 6 and 11 because groups are sometimes a bit hard to find and it's not the best class for "soloting" (well to my knowledge it' the harder). It's really not a damage maker whatever the level is. I think after lvl 14-15 it's really more easy to find good group because priests become rarer. druid is very fun to play and intersting imo. (well mine is only lvl 11 currently) but i really had a good time with him until now. Much more adequate for casual "soloting" IMO.

Thanks for info. My druid dinged 15 today He is also fun to pplay. I was a bit concerned on where to put talent points, decided to put 5 in feral.
As for profession for my druid I decided to have skinning (117) and leatherworking (60 or so).

Ah, Cleg, I don't quite agree with your opinion about fishing and cooking => my point of view
There are fish alchemists need ( so far 2 I know of) for fish oil => nice to sell. Fishing higher animals (lvl 25/35)and having the recipy to cook them requires no further ingredients for cooking and brings the cooking skill up very quickly. I had the max of fishing/cooking at 225 pretty quickly, by just fishing and cooking the fish
The thunderbirds e.g. only eat cheese and fish. So, I provide one hunter with that, so her animal is happy. My cat loves fish/flesh, so I can provide her with a variety of both - cooking fish increases the healing ability they have.
Am waiting now (lvl 39) to become 40, so I can gather the fishing quest and advance to 300.
Besides that => I fish potions, locked chests, weapons, chests with engineering equipment etc.
And... fishing is fun. It relaxes me to stand by the water and find out if there is endemic prey. The funniest lake so far was Cragpoole => fish smeared with oil, rusty bolts etc => pollution.
My fav. class is hunter so far - especially since I use traps and lure the baddies into it. I think, a hunter is good for someone loving to scout through the landscape and discover - a person liking to roam on his/her own.
What I'm really starting to dislike highly about WoW is raid disease (spamming in general chat and lags, lags, lags) and the new "honour system". Gets on my nerves. I'm hoping for Blizzard to provide RPG gamers with a server of their own.
About skinning/leatherworking => gives XP by killing animals, skill is easy to advance as many leave the corpses on the ground, so I know a few "grounds" where I can skin the remnants of others and kill myself. Even high armoured warriors like a boost with the +32 sets - am waiting here for lvl 40 as well, so I can put on my turtle armour - and see if there are higher boosts.

300% agreed Kiya... I must say I'm on a so-called RPG new french server (Les Sentinelles) and it is an RPG only by name... No that's not really true... There are people who are making a lot of efforts for being really RP but it is very rare. And like many people are disapointed with the "honour system" there are a lot of people who really have nothing to do on an RP server. Because there are here for doing "solo" and quiet PVP on a PVE and RP server... I'm sorry if I sound really harsh but i really didn't have any luck in the parties i was for the 3 last days... and i'm in a (more or less) bad mood some examples -people who are systematically rolling dices for items they don't need and they knew you need -people who invite you in a group without a word and won't say a word during all the (generally short) existence of the group. -people who are agressiving dangerous mobs despite of the common sense then are very surprised and angry to die. -and also people for whom the vocabulary is reduced to "hi" and ""lol". As far as I can say this is not really related to how old they may be. I'm precising that.
