I would curse IF just to cut down on the freaking lag.

By the way all you really should check out the Darkfall site. The game will be an MMOG, it sounds unreal, if they actually pull it off it will be fantastic.

Some things to note.

Mounted Combat.
Player controlled ships (with catapaults and Ballistae)
Player built/controlled cities
All equipment can be player created
No Standard spawns...i.e. you kill 4000k wolves in the same spot...wont be able to
Full loot when you die
Absolutely no safe zones, pvp can happen anywhere at any time.
10,000 People per server
Enourmous game world...seriously huge
Player created legal systems in towns they control.

Seriously this could be sweet, check out the site www.darkfallonline.com

I will think twice before buying this game as:

Mounted Combat.

It really depends what cons and pros will it have. I mean if there only be speed boost when fighting mounted, then noone really will play unmounted.
There will be restrictions, making mounted fighting unpopular.

Can't say anything. What lvl of control will players have over cities and ships? Can they be purchased?

Just imagine, you will spend hours running from one zone to another to find and kill 2024 more small wolf pups to lvl. In other MMOS you can just camp their spawn spot. Here you will run for weeks. (there could be point in that actually. To create something like sniper, where all is about tracking and finding your prey, but I doubt this game is something like that)

Full loot when you die

This is one of the worst ideas to bring into MMORPG. This makes the whole process of loooking for better items useless. And we all know - one of RPG's most important parts is to create strong uberly equiped character.
I played two games where you dropped only one item when dieing. One occasional item. It was enough for me to delete both games and never think of them again.

It means no safety to anyone especially new players. You can't quest, trade or just communicate safely in this game. It means lowbies ganking in towns. It means massive PK. It means high levels will be camping cities and taking into account that dead character drops everything ...
It sounds like a worst MMO game I ever heard of.

10,000 People per server

Either developers are millionaires to afford huge powerful servers from the start and I doubt they are, either there will be lag!
Mass lag during battles and it big cities.

Enourmous game world...seriously huge
Take any MMO, the world is huge.

Cough.. and if I am evil or just moron and if I have anough money to buy myself a city?

At the end I only add that such giant as Blizzard is trying to make player friendly environment in WOW, but even there, there are problems like spamming, ninja looting, cheating.
I can only guess what anarchy and pvp hate can a game cause with the rules you explained.

Did you read their website? I dont think you have the correct impression of the game from me.

But I think I can answer a few of your questions. As for open pvp there is an alignment system of sorts...i.e. you pk ppl in town and of lower rank npc guards will attack you on sight. Also there will be racial capitals which will still be open pvp but will have alot of guards.

Mounted combat i cannot explain havent really read about it.

From what I understand players will have complete control of ships...i.e. steering and attacking, ships will be capable of being mounted with Ballistae and Catapaults.

Cites are built, no bought. You actually have to build/place the buildings...(not sure on how this works as far as resources go)

I was not thrilled about full loot at first but then i came to like the idea. For example you wont spend hour after hour doing the same instance(WoW) to get the one superweapon you want. Superweapons will not exist in Darkfall. Everything you can find from mobs will be creatable by crafters. This as they are planning will make people rely more on skill in combat than a superweapon, which I believe is good.

Also, full loot will hopefully make greifers think twice since they know they could lose everything on their character if they fail.

Also toons dont "level" in the traditional sense. You gain abilities by actually using skills, not killing XXXXX number of mobs.

As far as the server capabilities I have no idea how that is going to work.

Perhaps it is just a difference of opinion but I like the idea of a player controlled legal system...look at human history...there were evil empires/emperors, with bad systems that punished people...there were also benevolent ones...

Anyway I think it will be good...at least check out the site itll be worth it.

I don't know if I mentioned it before; I am a guildmaster on my server, Terenas. Anyhow we are a small mature tightknit group and the quality of play when we party together is excellent. Our problem is that we are too small to raid the tougher instances like Molten Core or Zul'Gurub. Over the past 2 weeks I have spent hours working on an alliance with another guild. We finally did a raid together last night. It went well, and I was very pleased.

What does this mean ? A majordomo is usually someone who runs a house, does everything like cleaning, greeting guests, keeps everything in order ...

Hehe lol, it is a strong boss in one of the instances! You need 40 ppl to take one of these bosses down, and mostally it requires good teamwork!
So that explains me feeling quite happy we could take him down

I have resigned from being guild leader (Horde) on Terenas; I still play there, but only once or twice a week. I am now concentrating on levelling a human warlock on Stormrage, using an affliction talent build. Fun! Fast levelling! I am in the Lurkers guild there.
And I started a Druid on an Oceanic server, Jubei'thos.

Hey Nero!
I have been great! Very busy too now that I have moved out of my parental house and started living on my own!
I still don't have internet there so I can't check back here too often! Although it is nice to see many familiar faces here, though most have probably forgotten me

And Cleglaw, too bad you don't play on european servers, we could have played together!

I have switched to the Stormrage server, playing a toon named Loquita. I play on Terenas only on Fridays.
