Looking at the art of Divine Divinity makes me wanna play it again . You would say that that isn't bad, but all my precious time would be gone

I'm still waiting for some sort of answer.

Who is on the DD2 art team?
Any names yet?

Who knows ?
Marian never said that he was working on Divinity 2.
Maybe he is working on another game like Spellforce 2.
And he has to finish the artwork of CaRPG.

... now two dumb doubts
1. What is CaRPG? Please enlighten me.
2. Aren't DD2, Beyond Divinity and Riftrunner the names of the same game?

Check the announcement, dated April 1st: CaRPG (and then this one if you don't recognize the date).

Riftrunner was the original name for Beyond Divinity. DD2 is the next game in the series (so far all that is known is that it will be in full 3D and have multiplayer support).

So you mean that DD2 is different from Beyond Divinity. That would be great. Though I did not like the idea of being it multiplayer. It should have a choice between multiplayer and single player at least.

And what is this *full* 3D?! You mean like adjustable camera angles. Solid models and all! Isn't DD 3D enough? - except for the fixed camera angle.

I doubt DD2 would concentrate on multi-player. Most fans of the first 2 games prefer single-player, so I would guess it would have a strong single player game, and then an optional mutlti-player component (possibly a Battlefields type area, or a cooperative version of the main game). Most multi-player focused games are restricted to hunt and fetch quests, to keep the plot manageable for groups, which I doubt Larian would do to Divinity.

Full 3D means all objects and backgrounds are based on 3D models.

DD was all 2D, so characters and backgrounds were hand drawn and tweaked, and animations consisted of a series of frames. While many people like the look of the game, the animations require a lot of disk space.

BD has 2D backgrounds and 3D character models. Because the characters were 3D, there could be much more variety in character creation. There could also be more animations and more equipment, which would look different when equipped (in DD, all large shields looked the same, etc).

DD2 may have adjustable camera angles; that information has not been released yet. Lar has mentioned the base 3D engine, though: divinity 2, the 3D engine.

I am glad to hear about larian's attitude to multiplayer rpgs. Just think of it. The combat will be reduced to: "who uses the freeze/blind/polymorph first". And then think of what will happen when people use the space/pause button?! Even a party of player characters going for quests is not a good idea.

I downloaded this demo of beyond divinity. I hope that larians improved it in the final release. Everything is so dark again (thankfully they gave the gamma slider). There is no key for transfering inventory items from deathknight to hero and vice versa. Very little voice comments for the hero (like he lacks the key or he can't use it).

All of the doubts you spoke of here were never ever a problem in the NWN series games, and the M.P. aspect of the game followed the same path as the S.P. aspect of the game.

The Bioware NWN series was a huge success and I have no doubt that Larian will do an even BETTER job on DD2 than Bioware did on NWN.

Well, just for the record : Lar recently revealed the engine which Larian licensed for DD2 : I still call it Gameembryo .

Actually, that was my opinion of what I interpret their attitude to be.
They have not stated how multi-player will be implemented, and may not have even finalized that yet.

There were a number of improvements between the demo and release of the game, such as party selection and screen re-centre hotkeys. The hero does not speak. I eventually turned that off in DD anyway; you'd think by the end of the catacombs the character would stop wondering what levers do when pulled. I guess for BD it was decided it was better to be consistent and not have the hero talk at all (recording all of the hero's dialog in at least 3 voices would have been too much).
You can right click on an item and select 'give to...' to transfer items, or drag and drop them to the character's portrait or another inventory window.

@Raze
I am glad to hear about the changes in release version of BD. Sometimes voice remarks come in handy, especially when nothing is happening (and nothing happens when you are NOT doing the right thing). Remember the levers in the stronghold of Sword of Lies under the lake in the wastelands. I kept wondering if I pressed the button. The lever more closely behaved like herbs in the game.
