Did you attack it, maybe with a stray splitting arrow, or something?

I see a cutscene of it being attacked by other spiders, and its circle is green. But when i approach it, its circle is red. Every time I reload and try again, it is the same.

That is not the exiled spider, but a new hatchling. You'd think helping it with the other spiders would keep it friendly, but apparently gratitude is not one of its strong points. There is nothing you can do but kill (serves it right, to <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" /> ).

The exiled spider is a ways east of there, and a little north (unless you have already killed the spider priest).
