Alrik, did you have OpenOffice ? Maybe the following solution is also possible with M$ Office :

- start OpenOffice
- open your Dbase file (*.dbf)
- choose a charset, you must maybe try severals
- you can now save this new calc document as a cvs-file
- import it in you favorite sql-server

Contact me, if you have problems or questions or i should wrote it in german <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

For your other question i haven't no easy solution <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I think you best use the dump command (I know mysql has one, not sure about firebird) It's dumps your DB in SQL statments.

This might also help

As for your Mail clients.

2 ways:

1st: Mail them to yourself and recieve them with pegagus and archive them in a seperate folder.

2nd: Conversion program Conversion
I'll try te see if there is no open source variant or freeware but now I have to go to school.

Okay, thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

I have OpenOffice and StarOffice, but no MS Office. I use WordPerfect and Textmaker instead. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I'll see what I can do. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Edit : Can someone recommend me a good Newsreader ?

DOS games don't recognize my joystic.

Why is this ?

When I start DOS-based games under pure DOS (still have my Win98SE), thn they don't "see" it. I have it connected on my soundcard (a Soundplasterer <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> Live 1024 , and the stick itself is a thing from Saitek.

Alrik, it's possible you have to update your drivers for your sound card (dos drivers)

I couldn't find any solution. Unfortunately Crative wouldn't help, too, because they have only 30 days after registration help; an entry in the forum there remained unanswered.

I decided to buy a gamecard, but I cannot get any, since nowadays everything's turned on by USB.

I'm quite frustrated now.

A different thing : I've read that there once was a "Baldur's Gate Comic". However, with Interplay being no more, their FTP Server as a source diosn't exist anymore. "Fileplanet" seems to have it but why the heck have I to register there ???

I'm a little bit further now. It seems that it doesn't generally work.

I think I'll build into my PC my old SB16 card, luckily I even have 2 ISA slots in here. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

By the way : A pace about DOS : http://devedia.com/dosghost

Well, from my point of view you've already posted the paths of the files !

They should be on C: and under the windows folder.

Example \WINDOWS\system32\config\system.LOG becomes C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system.LOG

That they are not defragged could mean they are in use or protected by attributes (system, hidden, etc).

Alrik.

Doctor Watson, IIRC is a Windows/Microsoft program that can be used to analyze problems by qualified tech's, The Norton URL file is Big (me thinks) due to the fact that it stores all the BAD url's.

Hmm and if you go into explorer click Tools>select View you will find a list of boxes there , 1 of which consist of:"Show Hidden Files and Folders" click this, also there is a box called "Hide Extensions for knwn files" UN tick this, then reboot and you should be able to find your restore files, Prolly a whole heap of them <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Hmm I think that would be correct, I believe (IIRC) that "System Volume Information" is a protected Windows system folder. iow "hands off" else the whole (windowless)cardhouse falls to pieces <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Isn't that the folder where win stores all the backup files ?
