No virus.
I didn't write down the error on the blue screen.
I have given up on Morrowind so hopefully my problem is gone. If it resurfaces I'll post.
Morrowind was a love/hate thing and I'm not really sorry to stop.

Well since this morning i'm having troubles booting up the pc, from the moment after the screen where the memory gets checked (which in my case is a huge HP screen), and you can choose to enter the BIOS using F1 etc.
And then I get just a screen with an L followed by lots of 99's. Then it just stops.

I tried to recover the pc using an image made with Ghost that I got with the pc. But it didn't help.

I fear my hard disk is broken (Western Digital), tough i'm not sure, anyone can help finding the problem?

LOL Remove the Linux system disk from floppy sorry couldn't resist that Merendrious, unfortunately that's way past my knowledge base

Maybe if you yell RAZE, Morbo or Lady Rain real hard they might help ?

@ Merendrious -> do u have any spare computer around? take that HD out & port it in the other computer (make sure it's virus free). check if the BIOS can detect the HD. if it does, then go into windows & have scandisk check the HD. please do a complete scandisk with surface check.

other than that, i am not sure how else to help u. sorry.

Also check whether all cables are still properly plugged in.

I've seen once an win nt machine with a bluescreen which disappeared after plugging the PS/2 mouse right back into it again.
Since then I'm careful regarding cables and plugs.

I figured out that my Master Boot Record got corrupted. I'm able to get into windows making a boot disk. Bought a second hard disk where I just backupped everything. Now trying to fix the master boot record, by using a dos boot disk, and using fdisk /mbr (don't know if that still works), and found an other command called fixmbr, otherwise it's gonna be a full format hehe

Formated my C: drive and reinstalled windows XP and now everything works fine .
Pfew, can't see an other installer for days (probably even weeks) had to do a whole bunch of windows/linux reinstalls the last 2 days... But anyway it works now, everyone is happy, so now party on

Glad you got it fixed. I hope you had a backup of important files.

Depends on the OS.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/Windows2000Pro/reskit/part7/proch32.mspx?mfr=true

This article says that the "recovery console" has a command called "fixmbr".

(You must scroll down nearly to the end to see this.)

A guy told me today Intel has passed AMD, and my whole world fell apart . Anyway, does anyone happen to have any nice links to this, the only article I could find on AMD vs Intel was allmost two years old...

I only have hard copy articles about this....

but give AMD a chance... they working on some secret stuff too....

Sadly (for me) the new intel is twice the speed of the fastest AMD.... and the price isnt that crippling either...

AMD is prolly reworking their CPU-design for the moment . And maybe working on getting GPU's and CPU's on the same core...

Still would be nice with some articles on it. Feels better than some bloke on Battle.net telling me Intel is better than AMD...

Ube, do check Tom's Hardware Guide for more details & review on the dual core versus 64-bit.

Thanks Jang (now bookmarked )... Isn't 64 bits a good thing?

LOL it will be ...once they actually make programs that work on 64 bit and don't even mention the Windoze 64 cause that aint even working as it is and when it work you can hardly find the drivers for it .... so, I guess we all shall have to wait a "bit"

you will be surprised to see how many new devices are coming out with 64 bit drivers.... i will be moving over in 2 months's time.... (as soon as i pass my msce and become a MS-partner) then i get it for freeeeeeeee but so far so good.... been testing it on and off... and i am impressed with a lot of features...

(i am not however impressed with office 2007... if you dont know the shortcut keys... dont bother trying to find save-as)

Lady Rain, when it comes to surviving the ordeals of using Microsoft Office, it's imperative to save-a$$.

a question to those who are Linux users: is it advisable to install Fedora on a very old PC? AMD K5 133MHz with 40MB RAM? probably use it as a server as that old system has low power consumption.
