But just like beeing drunk. If you cause to much noise your reputation drops and the guards come and get you so you can sleep it off in jail.

I'd like to see a character named Alan Smithee <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Also some characters named George Spelvin, Walter Plinge, and Davig Agnew <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hunger and thirst?
Not sure whether anyone has said anything about this, but if you're hungry or thirsy your stamina could decrease faster, or stats could decrease when it reaches rael low, if it's put in say....

Trees?
You could pick fruit off of trees, or bang a tree with your weapon, or give it your shoulder, fruit or even little sticky insects could come out, hell you could disturb a bees nest or find a useful item!

Trainer NPCs?
Similar to where you can get a skill from the leader of the warrior guild in DD, you can study under an NPC, except they could provide you with a stat increase perhaps, or give you access to a hidden area....

I especially like the first 2 ideas a lot <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> especially the 2nd <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

And from what i suggested, my idea was: no, you cant kill the creatures, or well, maybe you can in your imagination...

I also like the tree idea very much. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> In <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> we could actually see abandoned tres with already harvested fruit (appels, as they appeared to me).

Actually, in some games you can harvest friut of bushes as well, and roots.

Also, I want some Potatoes in the game. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Nice idea about the fruit trees. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

But then we can pick vegetables from the fields...well if we have permission..if not the angry farmer comes out and shoos you off his land with a decrease in rep obviously. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />

The chance of failure is something which I was a bit hesitant to suggest as if the % chance is too low it will discourage some people from playing the game.

The location of food though is well taken. In old place you would expect a rare or odd items like the rock of the halbred.

In old places I would expect some rusty weapons/armour which leads me to his idea....you can find these types of armour but you cant see their stats yet.
So you go to a blacksmith to clean the armour and then you will be able to see what stats they have..some good and others bad

Speaking of theatre groups what about a circus?
Say after playing for 25 hours of the game you see a travelling circus in a place where it is most likely you hve already visited. They hang around for 7 days in game time maybe in Ars Maganica ad may offer you a quest or a different trader. Then they dissappear and you never see them again.

It adds a novelty to the same recurring characters and venues.

After all we are happy to discover new things but soon after everyone gets bored with the same old characters/places.

In the Adventure game "The Westerner", you had to grow carrots on a tiny field in order to get your horse going. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> (Carrots as kind of fuel <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> )

I think I'd like to see such a thing, too : A small field I can buy and grow my own herbs on it. Eventually I might even be able to make potions from them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Ideal would be if it was situated next to my own house in the game. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I think there are two names that could act as an easter egg, especially for lovers of archaeology, too : Atra-Hasis and Sin-Liqe-Unninni. And maybe even the better-known Gilgamesh. But since Gilgamesh is better known, I'd prefer the other two names, to point out where even the Gilgamesh Epic, and even more : the Flood myth from the bible, has its roots !
I would like to see them as a reference to the oldest written down myths of the world, as a sign, how old civilization actually is. As a remainder to our roots of literature. This is epic.

I like that Alrik - I read and loved the Gilgamesh epic more than once - though perhaps the names themselves sound a little bit too outlandish for an RPG that's set in a fantasy world that has medieval Europe as its basis. Should there be another waste land kind of episode on the other hand, then yeah, the reference(s) would be great.

Quest entry: A local town chieftain has asked me to find a wild individual called Enkidu and bring him to the civilised world. He suggested I should speak to one of the hamlet's "willing girls" if I needed help taming this force of nature <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I was quite surprised as I played X-Wing Alliance a while ago. In one of the early missions there really is a starfighter called "Enkidu" !
It has several other similar easter egg names, but I couldn't work out most of them.

1 very important thing!
Dont cut down on sexism or violence or that kinda stuff just to get the ESRB thing rating lower. maybe just make a possible password to protct for a mode to turn it on/off or something...
I really like the way they handled it with Dark messiah of might and magic, where they just didnt care about the age rating and make it a cool game <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> and not the way of oblivion, wich is especially made so that the age rating will be low...

Anyway it would be cool if your caracter has the need to sleep once in a while. ELse he will be weakened by the hour and his face will go tired. If you dont sleep for a certain amount of time perhaps you will pass out (especially with bad stamina. If there are any creatures around and they found you, you're dead. If not. You will awake in a certain amount of time. This can all be different in different areas. Perhaps thats too much work but its just a suggestion.

Ofcourse there are ways to extend your time without the need to sleep. Certain potions with illegal ingredients (plants that have effect like "speed"<the drug). This will give your body a good boost for an amount of time. THis potions are rare tough and you can only make them when you are a good alchemist and the ingredients are rare too...You will be able to take the stuff when youre not tired too of course. It will have less effect but it will boost you up a bit anyway.
If you use it and wanna sleep in short time you will sleep very badly and stats will be drained for a time the next morning.

It would be cool if you could use drudanaei (or what was it called again) yourself too... and potions with bad mushrooms like i suggested earlier too ofcourse...

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/alien.gif" alt="" />

So what ya think <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> wazzzz <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> ?

EDIT: the need sleep idea is good combine with this 1...

I find it unreal to just fall asleep with enemies near, I mean you'd be trying very very hard not to fall asleep . Instead all your attributes start going down when reached a certain level of exhaustion. In battle this means that you'll die faster, if you have no energy left. You can't defend yourself, have low mana etc etc...

It's one of these days...

I don't know about the need-sleep-thing. It's realistic, granted, but it could easily become annoying. Oh no, my character needs sleep again, I'm in the middle of a dungeon, my stats are lowered and there's no place to sleep because I left my portable bed back in the farmlands. Seriously though, the first part of the sentence is what it would look like in a lot of cases. It will always be an inconvenience.
