Try writing a MOD first. Neverwinter nights or something like that. There's plenty of help on it, and you could make it however you like. I think thats the best place to start

Write a module. Like an expansion pack. There are tools within most games nowadays to create your own levels. Start out by creating your own levels, using someone else's engine (the toolset in neverwinter nights).

You can make multiple levels, link them together and create your own dialogue. This, to some degree, will let you create your own game. There are limitations doing this, however, if you do a good job, people can download your level and play, thus giving you feedback.

Its a good place to start

SDK's for RPG's like DD2 are a good idea, tho it would be hard to start with, unlike an fps, 6 walls a gun and a monster... tadaaa level. Level design is much more complicated i believe.

No drought about it but it can give enthusiasts some experience. I don't believe that in Belgium there are a lot of experience game Developers. Most likely the sdk is to much for one person to handle. A programmer wiz can create the most complex thing but without a decent graphic designer the game is nowhere or a graphical pearl that has no story.

ps: Can some one from larian post the flowing sentence. "No new news, Work is progressing"

"Ageia Acquires Meqon Research"

"Ageia Technologies, the developer behind the upcoming PhysX SDK and processor, has announced that it has acquired Meqon Research AB, a Swedish physics software company. Meqon's Game Dynamics SDK, which will be used in TimeShift and Duke Nukem Forever, will be incorporated into the PhysX software..."

What does it mean for this new game?

Question: Will Larian use the new SDK (and rewrite a bunch of code) or ill it use the current meqon sdk?

Indeed! Please don't compare DD2 with DNF ... That makes me feel just a little bit too uncomfortable.

The whole thing does! The waterfall, the house, the statue behind the trees, the trees themselves, the skeleton warrior... He looks frightning, very well done! Though it looks like his companion fell apart due to an overdose of existential thought! It's been a real plague among skeleton warriors these last years!
