Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Suggestions Choose your race.

Know what would be nice in future games like Divine <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> 2? The choice to be one of the 7 races! Each one could have its own specialty. It doesn't even have to replace the classes either (so there could be Imp Warriors, Orc Warriors, etcetera).

It would also be nice if the dialogue and way people react to you will be affected by your race. There could even be racisms (like an Elf in a Dwaven area and vise versa, or an Orc in a Human area and vise versa, etcetera). People could say nicer or meaner things to you. People could have a much lower or higher friendliness level. Many things. Much fun! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" /> Even more, if you prove yourself to someone who was racist against your race, and you work with/for him/her and gain trust, they could say something like <Dwarf: "I guess I missjudged you, Elf. You're not so bad after all!">.

Oh, the possibilities! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> All the wonderful possibilities!

There could even be a specialized race quest line (you know, a groupe of quests only for a certain race - for example: "You are an Orc, and the Humans are attacking one of your encampments. Go help them!" or "An Orc again, why is your race at war with the Humans? Why has your chieftian suddenly taken on a bloodlust? You should investigate at what his motives really are and see if the humans really attacked first. They didn't have any reason to, and he (your chieftiean) has been acting very oddly lately..."

I totally agree- I didn't like the fact that you were forced to be called pigskin all the time.. I mean, think of all the mean names the races could call one another, and we were stuck being the piggy humans that everyone looked down on!

Pigs. I hate pigs. Pidgeons would have made more sense. They can reproduce at any time in the year- we're the only other species that does that. >_> After all, that is why in most fantasy games the humans outnumber other races.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohh.gif" alt="" /> Urm.. anyway.

It depends on what I'm playing. I usually pick human, but as said, it depends on the game (differenses between races) and on what I'm going to play (an orc rouge?). I take elf too sometimes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />.

Roughe=halfling! Preferrablly a girl named Charlotte the Harlot <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> (after the Iron Maiden song, yes). Apart from that, as said, it depends on the game.

I bet they'd make the best mages- all those years of practicing.. And a halfling thief would be formidable. You can't catch the freakin' guy!

I wonder what it would be like though if you got the choice of being a Deathknight too?

Yes, theft would suit a halfling well, or a goblin. In other rpgs that I've played the max of a skill that one can reach is really determined by the class only. It would be nice if the race was taken into accound also. That would make the character more unique <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />.



I think it would depend on the story. I'd imagine, that if the players say, got the choice of being good or evil, like in "Might and Mgic 7", evil being a deathknight, maybe one of the the main goal would be to save the baby or something. Then, afterwards, carry the baby safely to a "secret" place where it can be raised and summoned. Plus, as a deathknight we'd get to explore places other than the Rivellon (including the Wastelands) as we know it, and vise versa. That would just be awesome.

Acually, I think that would only limit the caracter, since then you can't make that dwarf thief you allways wanted, since dwarves has limited thievingskills etc. Remove the classlimitations instead, only add bonuses for race and class, THAT would give you allmost full freedom of your character <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />.

The attitude of different races could be raised similar to the way its in WoW, maybe...
If you do certain quests for certain races, theyre attitude towards you will be better, or other races will disslike you even more.

I think we should only make different playeble races if its good in the plot...
but i would surely like it more then without the races.

Maybe the halflings will mostly be imps...after all the are small...and in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> they seem to be very trickey and love pranks.
