Don't you just love it when someone insults you, and they don't even know what the word means? You can just tell the way they use it. I wont give any examples because it usually happens with vulgar words that are much more unknown to common newbie.

I actually find it funny, because then you can say: "Define that word, right now." And they got nothin'.

For me it usually happens on internet games. Its fun to destroy people with good insults after they show that they don't know what they're trying to throw at you.

hmm I tend to flabbergast ppl that are rude to me

Example retort;
" Hrmph! what? are you an assinine Nincompoop? "

It is generally followed by some minuyes of silence, in which the retortee is looking thru Google to ~define or with total silience as their poor brain is trying to absorb long words

I had heard the term "nincompoop" the first time on the back side of Mike Oldfield's album "Amarok". It is stated there thatr this album "could be hazardous to the health of cloth-eared nincompoops" ! I had to search in various dictionaries until I found that word !

At my ex-school we say "takeing notes". But that is more if you're really talking about something, like explaining the contence of a movie.

I love it when, on the .net, people say the same comebacks over and over again to defend themselves from humiliation. For example, while playing WarcraftIII's use-map-settings map DotA AllStars, there was a player that whenever insulted by my cousin (the player was a loser in every sens of the word ) he would say "STHU NOOB" (notice I replaced the F with an H for a shut-the-hell-up, just in case its against forum regulations). It actually became funny, than annoying, than funny again. He had nothing els to back him up .

Ahhh, good times.

Hey, I play a lot of DotA ! What is a bit anoying about it is all the pepole who claim that all leavers are gay. And that laggers are noobs.

That is annoying. Though it is irritating to have a leaver or a lagger, the people who think themselves 'cool' for pointing it out are a big time pain.

The most magical thing about these people is that they are usually the 'gay noobs'. Know what I mean? I actually usually find them to be the worst players ever. I had a guy who once said this in the chat before the game started: "Everyone on my team sucks". He is actually the latest version of the "STHU NOOB" character I've met. So, in that game he proved to be the second worst player there (the worst being a first timer who thought he could run in constantly and tank everything ).

Yes, DotA is very fun (though I'm not going to say I'm a pro at it, I'm just not a noob ).

Where are you playing btw? Since I'm from Sweden I play Northrend, but I've played some league games (ok, one league game. We were owned...) in Azeroth (don't know if it's east or west coast US). My name is Ubereil .

we would have replied "it was about time", and just find a different clever reply on all bad expressions.
But, on insult a common reply was "Oh, it's that your moms name" or "How did you say your mother is named again" or "Nice to meet you mr, <insult> I'm <your name>" But when you grow older, you quit that and just do the ignore trick.

I believe I play in Azeroth, but I never pay attention to my server in Warcraft III. It might be U.S. West, or East, I don't know...

Lately, my siblings and I have been using the responce " 'FACE! " whenever a person is shut down. As you can guess, this is an abbriviation of " In your face! ". Now, 'face' may seem like the worst come-back ever
( ), but it is actually very fun to use; mutch better than 'In your face', you know?

Try it out .

Some while ago it was in to say 'Broken!' to pepole when they hadn't said anything forsome time, or when you got in a great comeback. This might not be a comback itself, but it's related to it, and since it's such a misuse of the word (IMO) it's a pretty bad... expression. If you don't know what I mean with the expression 'broken', it is what you call a man or whomen (or human in general. Or creature in general) that is broken mentally, due to sorow (which often is related to loseing a very important person in your life, but I guess there could be other factors too). You're so broken mentally you can't really funktion no more. It's not like you're a zombie though, you're just really really sad.
To use this expression on someone who you just got in a good comeback on, in order to strenghen that comeback is in the light of my explenation a poor way to use the expression. To illustrate how poorlly it was used I have a true story (heard from two friends of mine (back in the days when I had friends ) who didn't go to the same school as I did) about a teacher who gave a student a question. When this student hadn't answered for two seconds he bursted out:
"AHA! Broken! You havn't said anything for TWO seconds! Brrroooken!"

I've noticed a newer (but not so new anymore) insult going around mostly in CS.

It's POWNED or POWND or, the most common PWND.

I know it comes from OWNED but it's a stronger version, more of a OWNED BIG TIME. Yet... where does the P come from? I've always found this odd. Why PWND?

So, can anyone point out the origin of the odd P?
