I've downloaded it too. But I like it and will buy it when it's released here. The same things could be said about diablo II and DD. These are hack n slash as well, but they're good.

You have to remember that in DS2 it's a good idea to stick to a character class (combat/magic tree) whereas in DD you can cross level to your benefit. In a role playing sense, DS2 is more RPG that DD I think.

And the multiplayer will be awesome !

What?!? They just mention it all the time in the demo, so I missed that !

The first game and the expansion is the same. It's difficult to use some of the later items if you're cross-classing. I assume it will be the same in this.

Dunno what the demo says...

The game is really cool, with good graphics, now its time to play a lot, finally a good game, cause i was getting bored. I started doing the half-giant - classical build sword+shield but i dont like to much of my principal char to be a fighter like in every game so i´m thinking about go with a battle mage or something like that.

Yeah I know what you mean. I restarted wih a melee since my companion was ranged. Did I know he was dead after the tutorial. Ohther wise I would have took a comat mage.

The first area takes ten minutes! Just replay!

By the way, it's down. I'm playing a meleefighter. Will dualwield, pick some dodge and survival (from ranged), otherwise go for dmg and speed. And some juicy specials . Going for whirlwind... I mean whirl strike, of cause I do... (Take THAT, those here whodoesn't think DS2 is copying D2!)

Cleglaw's Prediction
You will tire of the poor AI of the monsters. You will realize item classification system leaves something to be desired. You will yearn for more RPG than the game gives.

And then you'll go play multiplayer...

And by the way, I don't play DS for the rollplaying .

As I said earlier, this will be great in multiplayer mode. You could always do the game with a reduced party size to make it harder. If you think the AI flawed.

The armour and weapons are devided into classes. So no mages with plate armour but a robe. I realy like this. If it was not party based it would have been wasted (3/4 of stuff you can't use). but with a 4 member party it realy works well.

The map realy sucks. Come on I pass a building i know have to get back to but you can't olace any marks. took me 2 hours to explore the intire map again.

I´m with a lvl 36 dual weilder - i got that furyblades power(forgot the name now) waves of force or something like that, nice a lot - the game, im at act3 doing the klathra city, idk when it will finish the game, i would like to have a char with the power of the dark wizards lol. Have a lot of secondary quests and tasks, some are good like that one what u get 2 jewels and 1 amulet what makes a set, all together give 40% chance mf.

Cleglaw's Prediction

To begin with you will think it is a great game. You will finish the SP mode with 1 or maybe 2 different party configurations. Boredom will creep in. You will realize that the game makes your parties too easy to control. You will tire of the poor AI of the monsters. You will realize item classification system leaves something to be desired. You will yearn for more RPG than the game gives.

I beg to differ.

While this was true with the first DS, DS 2 offers more than dumb automatic combat. Now the game has deeper storyline (with cutscenes like in KotOR). Character stats are just like in the old game (they increase automaticaly as you level up), but now you receive points that you can spend in some passive skills to boost your combat capabilities. Some of the new powers look really cool.

True. I've found some striking similarities between the two games! In DS 1 when you open a save game, you'll start the game from where you were when you last saved it but in DS 2 you're back in town just like in Diablo 2. And all the monsters you killed are respawned. I think they also copy a lot of the skills from Diablo 2 like Whirl Strike, Dodge, Penetrate and some others. Playing this game reminds me of my Diablo 2 days.

The only disappointment I have is with the difficulty level of the game. I mean, only a few monsters post a real threat.

Anyway, I'm playing as Dryad specializing in Nature Magic. Level 19 atm and can't wait to see her in action in higher levels.

All in all, DS 2 is significant improvement of the first installment. Anyone who likes hack and slash rpgs should go and buy this game.

Well, I deleted my dual-wielding half-gigant and started a dryad, going for casting (weapond-casting, not spellcasting ), since they have cooler specials (flurry to mention the main one. Their improved chritical is cooler too, instead of a plain more %extra dmg, it bounces to another creature, which seems cooler to say the least. It's called ricochet by the way). I've allso got some dodge and survival (not only for the (weak) dodge and resistance bonus, you allso get two new specials only by placeing five in dodge and three in survival. Good specials too...). I'm level 11, have got a wolf cub (just got him) and taar, the nature mage from the first town in my party.

hey! my dryad is on level 22 right now, still stuck with lesser ice attacks, but that is good as currently i'm at the azunite desert with lots of fire-based attacking enemies. anyway, if u regularly check with the mage vendor in the dryad town, at level 17, there's this earth ripple attack which should be good against multiple enemies. set items help quite a bit in that they boost your stats enough to boost your magic damage.

at what level of difficulty are u playing now? i am still on easy yet as nature mage, damage isn't as high as combat mage but thankfully the buffs help quite a bit (earth & wind embrace). so far i've yet to try out summoning. but my wolf pet has helped a lot (fed him mostly with rare items, maybe i'll also try set items). currently at juvenile level.

Ube, i thought the starting stats of dryad makes her more formidable as nature mage? as weapon master, i think other races (elf, human?) may do better.

& as for your pet, is it the blue wolf? if it's not, then get the quest from the pet seller then proceed to mage dude near to Taar.

+4 to dex, but only +2 to int. And a dryad gets one to dodge and one to... whatever the nature skill is called (lowers the manacost on spells I think...). So I think a dryad is better as a ranged char than a caster .

Hi Janggut

Spells I use: Ice Bolt, Encase (?), Earthen Embrace, Summon Raptor, and Heal (on auto spell). I tried Earth Ripple but didn't like it coz the damage is too low (it hits more monsters per attack, though). You don't really need summons. Just your buddies and a pet are enough to do the job. I use the raptor because it looks cute. I just bought an ice elemental at the pet shop and it's still a baby. As for their food, I don't think it matters whether you feed them with rare, set or normal items. The most important thing is the item's price. The more expensive it is, the faster they grow. Btw, I'm still playing on easy, too. Still looking for more set items.

I think Ubereil is right about the Dryad being better suited as a ranger. The character class description also says so. But in the end it doesn't matter because you'll find better items and you'll grow so strong that your enemies (well, most of them) can't even lay a finger on you.

Btw, where's everybody? The forums seem a bit quiet now. I think it's time for Larian to release Divine Divinity 2.

"Ice Bolt, Encase (?), Earthen Embrace, Summon Raptor, and Heal (on auto spell)" shootnrun73

hey, mine's almost similar to u but no more lesser ice bolt, as i have replaced it with spirit embrace in the slot. encase is great for combating single powerful enemy or to put one enemy down ASAP (usually mages in group). the current summon that i use will be Lesser Scorpion (somehow better than Rhynok as it's faster with magic resistance plus higher damage/sec). on my auto-fire will be lesser heal cascade & wind embrace.

too bad u can only have max of two buff spells.

wow! i have no idea! all these while i have been feeding it with only rare items, 'cos i thought it will make my pet gain a more quality growth. so much for myths.

Just a quick question. If you play the demo can you use your characters in the full version (Purchased)?

Thanks

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill, because they pissed me off.
