In case you are not aware of what this is here is a definition from Wikepedia UK >> "Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychological disorder, specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive drive to perform a particular task or set of tasks, compulsions commonly termed rituals."
Right then that said i am sure i have one , it may be a minor case but all the same i have one, mine being that when i have a shower in the morning i seemed to be obsessed with getting rid of all the bubbles around the plug-hole before i exit the shower!
I now find myself pushing water towards the ammassed bubbles during my shower and this morning i tried something new to kill the blighters, i put a bar of soap by the plug-hole in the hope that the detergent would speed up the process, but to no avail. All of this is making my showering experiance take longer and longer, if any of you have any tips give me a shout.
[color:"yellow"] Do any of you out there in Larian land think you have a OCD?? [/color]

I then have it in a HUGE way i will lock my car 10 times to make sure... check all the door handles, and then still come check 20 minutes later to make SURE its locked.

The stove the same thing... i will wake up to check if its off (the cats jump on it)

etc etc....

And in this one i wont be alone.... how many people will actially rythmically cound lamp posts, when they drive.... not neccesarily COUNT them, but sort of "keep the rythm" of them.... and boy do i get irritated if the person ahead of me slows down and breaks my rythm.

___________
sorry dont know any bubble-away tricks good luck though.... i know that powder kills bubbles... but that will be the last thing you want in a shower.

Eh?

The definiton is pretty accuracte Ub! You don't think before ya post do ya!

My very slight obsessive thing to do is to ALWAYS fold my bus ticket when on the bus over in a certain way.

If I don't...the bus will crash!! It will I tell ya...maybe.

@Spick - keep some container handy in the shower. Fill it with water and use that to drain away the bubbles. Should be quicker and you can 'aim' it too...

the fastest way to exterminate those "evil bubbles from hell" is to sprinkle them with holy water.
but the water of your shouwerhead will do also
make shure the beam om the water is set to "wide" spray it directly above them,
you will see the bubbles dissapear.

Yep, that's what wikipedia is for ya know! Knowledge sharing - sometimes even knowledge that only a few people have. Can't all be correct - but generally the wrong definitions are weeded out.

Books and encylopedias are written by people too...

I'd suggest some sort of Affirmations like "I let this obsession go" - something like this. The more exact & precise, the better.

Also I'd suggest some sort of "Autogenes Training" (German word) - the English translation by www.freetranslastion.com is "Autogenous training".

This should be done imho to release the tension that makes you perform these "rituals".

@ Dragh
I get the shivers when someone is cracking their fingers. I think it's the sound that gives me the goosebumps

@ Spick
Poor Spickie, you would have a large water bill at the end of the year, when you spend all that water to those little innocent bubbles, they die anyway when they dry out, you know? And maybe you can start by using less soap in the shower? You can give it a try...

My OCD should be the way I check my bedroom every night before I go to bed. I'm soo afraid of spiders that I can't sleep if I didn't check the room. It must be completely spider free before I get into my bed, and even then, by the slightest sound, I turn on the light and look for the faul creatures.
There is also another fact about me, I always think that someone is following me, so when I get home and I'm alone, I shut the front door and put my foot behind it before I lock the door. You never know who is behind that door trying to get in... I know this all sounds stupid but hey, at least it's not so bad as Spick's bubblephobia

Sometimes when I'm home alone and sitting by the computer I get the feeling there is someone downstairs. I don't check every corner of the house to see that no one is there though...

Yeaaaaaaa Ubs has a bugging ghosty!!!!

@ Gal
Its not so funny, in South Africa its NORMAL!!!!! to the point where most people have 2 doors, with the alarm set to go off, if there are movement in that area for longer than 30 seconds. So if someone does get in with you, you dont punch in the code to the next door, the alarm will go off and call the security company.

Hmmmmm popping finger knuckles... interesting.... what about popping hips???? Yea i know, most people absolutely go insane at the sight of that.... and i do that all the time when i get bored.... literally dislocating it and then pop it back in.

I'm quite "Obsession"-free. Well, there are some points, though.

- I sometimes think it has been ringing at the door. My ears aren't that good anymore, and also I have a slight "tingling" in my ears. I'm never sure. But I've learned just to ignore it.

- I want to have my hands clean. Therefore I wash them a little bit more often than normal. But for now everything's still in the "green area".

Heh Spick, good one .... I have an answer though .... get a bottle of methylated spirits, pour it into a spray can (like a water sprayer for plants) and spray the bubbles near the drain .... hey presto gone AND you disinfected the drain hole

btw methylated spirits is a natural anti-agent to detergent of any kind ... like putting too much soap in the dishwasher and having half a kitchen full of bubbles

I like the sound of that last suggestion there by Mea
Thanks for all the other ideas as well, and its interesting to see all the other "obsessions" you all have as well.
I don't remeber who suggested leaving the bubbles to dry out, but that is a definate No-No!!!, all those dried rings by the plug-hole thats why i gotta get rid of them in the first place
As for washing them away with the shower head is a no goer as well as i have fixed Victorian style shower.
Jeepers, only another 8 hours 'till shower time
P.S. Ub, go jump off a cliff.

I think it was me

@ Lady Rain
That hip thing you do? I have something similar, but it only happens when I'm riding my bike. Strangely enough, but then I need to crack my hips on both sides because it get stuck if I don't do that.

OCD? oh man .....

Spick, i think it's very serious. better consult the specialist in bath accessories shop. now don't u worry too much about it, ol' boy. we're all crazy in our own ways.

Lady Rain, a have a few friends who are like u as well - after locking the car doors & walking towards the office, they would second-guess themselves & return to check.

i think i used to have one of those disorders like your counting the poles as u drive. it's walking alongside the road while 'avoiding' the car wheels. as cars pass along, i would make my steps in such a way that my feet will not be parallel to the car wheels. i would even make small hops if i had to. another would be walking on tiles, which i would make sure i step on unbroken ones (not related to superstition).

another one of my weirdness will be to always 'clean up' people's computers - tweaking the OS & BIOS, update the antivirus & stuff, etc. now i can control that one already.

spick, maybe next time u hit the showers, try blindfolding yourself.

Every time I read some of a book, I must note down my progress of the day.
That includes:
-The Title
-From what page to what page
-Number of pages read
-Percentage of completion
-Number of pages remaining
-Current pages/day ratio
-Estimated amount of reading days left with current pages/day ratio

Is that concidered OCD? Because I must, and do, do it every day I read.

I know its not normal.

So, OCD or Broken?

Spick, mate, my opinion is that you should not look for more means to exterminate those poor bubbles, I think, the point is - you should change your attitute towards the problem of bubbles appearing there.

I mean, in every home, in every shower there are always bubbles appearing around the plug-hole, on the walls, on the floor. It may be more difficult to do then it sounds, but, I think, you should re-direct your attention from those bubbles. Start exercising and after time, you will care about those bubbles no more.

But, if you are so concerned about those rings that occur after bubbles dry out. You can use a piece of soft cloth to clean plug-hole area, when it's still wet (so, no circles yet). But make sure this deed is nr. 10+ in your priorities list. So, you take shower, wash tooths, shave, put your cloth on and then you may clean plug-hole if you have time. So, my suggestion again - stop caring about it so much. Make it small, non-important detail of your life.

As for people returning to double-check the doors in the cars and things like that. I used to do that also. The solution is - learn to stay focused. Yeah, again sounds simple
Learn to think about what you are doing "here and now", not about hundred of other things.
In other words, you thought about something else while locking the door, and when left the car you suddenly start thinking - have you locked it or not- but you have no memory of this, as your mind was focused on other thoughts, thoughts of much more important things than everyday routine of locking a car.

This triggers another theme - making a decision and hesitating afterwards. If you made a decision - stop thinking and worrying about it. After time, you will start to - take responsibility on your actions and apparenntly, worry while making a decision, think about it, actually make a decision and worry about it no more.

As for fears like spiders. In a country like Lady Rain is living in, it's a precaution. Here, in Estonia, we protect spiders. We like them. I teach my kids to never kill a spider, but, spiders here are tiny harmless creatures. So, if I see such spider at home, I take him with my hands and let him go. I will never do the same with 10cm. poisonous monster that's the difference. I was in Crimea and Caucasus. We had to check our beds - everytime we went to sleep and our shoes everytime we were goin to put them on. That was a precaution. So my Lady, make sure, it's a precaution, not fear.

And for fears like arachnofobia, feelings someone's presence when either going home or staying in it etc. You will have to face it, to deal with it step by step, with small victories, you will finally win.
Here, take a look Overcoming Unnecessary Fears .

And again, sorry for my english.
