People make suggestions all time as to what new things they would like to see in Divine Divinity II. That's great and people should spout ideas: it can only help the creative process. But now I'd like to hear what you think should remain in the new game. Things that you loved about the first , things you don't want to lose.
Here is a short list of features I don't want see disappearing:

[color:"red"]The Music

I love the Divine Divinity soundtrack and I know I'm not the only one. Kirill Pokrovsky is a very talented composer. Make sure you hire him again

[color:"red"]Cats!

I love cats I thought it was great there were so many cats to be found in the game and if there's one charachter I would like to see returned its Arhu!

[color:"red"]Nature

Never has an 2d RPG had such an immersive, detailed and beautiful environment. The game is going to be 3d now, but I hope this level of magnificence is retained! (If I look at the few screenshots, I don't think I'll be disappointed )

These are just a few things off the top of my head, but I feel all of these factors play an important part in what Divine Divinity feels like and why we all love it so much. I hope these won't be forgotten.

I'm still playing through DD, but the tracks I heard so far really smashed me.
Out of curiosity I visited Kirill's site and listened to some tracks.
It reminds me a bit of Vangelis, if I may draw a comparison.
I thought of putting a note into the guest book, but my, it would feel like a pebble talking to the mountain.
Yes I think Larian should contract him again.
BTW my guess is that composing music for a 3D game will be a different task.
In contrast to a 2D level rush-in-and-out way, there will be considerable more time being spent on exploring a 3D plot.
The background music will have to reflect that, so I doubt short, looping tracks will do the right job.

Meh, cats.
I felt the hunting purrs irritating so I silenced that little nagger, and now all the cats are after me.

Nature is essential for a 3D rpg that's settled in outdoor environment.
The player will spend a lot of time with exploring the plot, so the perception of the environment will play a big part on the overall acceptance of the game.
Dungeon Siege and Gothic did a fairly good job on this.
Morrowind is also quite good, though feels somewhat tepid.
Very tricky to do it right.

I'd definitely appreciate another House of Madness episode.
It's just screwed, I like such things.

Good thoughts concerning the music. Longer pieces will indeed be necessary, especially if you were to be able to make long walks like in Morrowind.

P.S. Leave the cats alone

As far as I see from the screenies, yes, long walks.
Morrowind has only one soundtrack, but it's very lengthy (and loops of course).
After a while I found it quite strenuous.
I mean, the same track playing over and over again, regardless of the surrounding, time of day, weather etc.
The music only changed during battle.
If anyone cares or is about to decide things and happens to read this post:
Please, don't do this to DD2.

P.S.: Too late, cats are already hostile and rats allied (though I'm after them).

They didn't do this in Divine Divinity (the music changes as you enter Aleroth, the Farmlands, a dungeon,...) so my guess is they won't in part II. Actually, as far as music is concerned, I haven't too much worries. I just wanted to stress its importance for what-makes- -so-great.

P.S. Argh, poor kitties!

The below should in my view reamin the same.

Music(of course!!)
Different races, Different reputations.
Optional quests, freedom of movement i.e you can go anyway and do anything.
I would retain the fact that some skills require you to have certain items. i.e lock picking sill requires a lock pick. In the same way making a potion requires a flask and plants/herbs/mushrooms.
The 4 stats ..i.e strength,agility etc.
The large inventory and encumberances.
The great green outdoors.
The freedom to choose any skill you want.
The abundant item interaction.
The combat/non-combat mode.
head, two ring, amulet, foot gear, belt gear slots should remain the same.
The quests/large map/personality traits/trophies page should remain the same.
Some survivors from 1 should be there as well!!!
One or two towns should remain the same.

Indeed, I like those 4 stats too, I thought that in Beyond Divinity there were a little bit too much stats.

Another nice aspect of the game. Even as a warrior for instance, you could still choose to learn spells or to pick a lock. Great stuff.

I'm dissapointed at larian for not making it online.

I like the music and all the thing's said above.

Online as in MMORPG or just multiplayer?
Anyway, I don't see it that way. The best RPG's are the singleplayer ones (Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity, Morrowind, Lands of Lore,...). Baldur's Gate is of course also a masterpiece and that game you can play in multiplayer, but as far as I'm concerned that's never as much fun as playing it in singleplayer with the party-interaction.

Sure and MMORPG can be great (at least that's what I gather from other people's reactions: I myself never played one), but it's not the kind of thing Divine Divinity II will be. We've gotten two great singleplayer games from Larian, they are very good at what they do, so let's let them do their thing!

I know they do great singleplayer game's. they still can do that but could also add a multiplayer element as well.

It's more likly too sell more if they make it online, because it grab's the attention of online gamer's and single players.

Something else I'd like to see again: the warrior's Swirl Attack! Imagine how cool this move would be in 3d.
